There’s nothing that screams “I’m on holidays” quite like finding the time to slink down into a hot, deep bathtub, and having a relaxing soak. Preferably with a glass of wine in hand. Whether it’s on a Summer’s night on a deck overlooking the ocean, or in a magical Adelaide Hills mist in the depths of Winter, it’s definitely a highlight of any getaway. So rather than spending ages seeking out these experiences, we’ve pulled together a handy list (both indoor and outdoor baths) so you can book in for your ultimate South Australian bathtub experience.

OUTDOOR BATHS WITH VIEWS

One Kangaroo Island – Kangaroo Island

This retreat is one of the most luxurious in KI… maybe even the state. While we could talk about how gorgeous the actual homes are, we would love to wax poetics about this bath. Imagine sitting in this tub with a glass of wine in your hand, watching the crystal clear waters roll up to the shore, all while hearing the relaxing sounds of nature and feeling the warm glow of the run upon you. Talk about indulgence.

Cliff House, Lifetime Private Retreats – Kangaroo Island

Take your bathing routine to new heights (literally), at Lifetime Private Retreats’ Cliff House. Atop a breathtaking cliff, soak in sweeping coastal views across Kangaroo Island in a private heated spa. Private access to Snellings Beach and an open fire pit are just a few of the other perks of shacking up at Cliff House. There’s even the option to have an in-house catering team prepare dinner while you lounge on the patio, spotting dolphins and sipping pinot grigio.

Kingsford The Barossa – Barossa

This outdoor tub is located in the gorgeous Barossa, at Kingsford Homestead, made famous by Australian TV show McLeod’s Daughters. Offering one of the most unique bathing experiences on offer in the state, this tub is well and truly worthy of an Instagram post. Sitting secluded in a corner of the 225-acre authentic sheep station-turned-luxury accommodation, it’s the perfect place to unwind with a glass of bubbles in hand. In it’s Barossa location, this bathtub experience is just a stones throw from some of the regions best wineries. Cheers!

Lost in Willunga Hill – Willunga Hill

Set atop Willunga Hill amongst a regrowth eucalypt forest, a stunning new Hilltop Retreat has opened, offering panoramic views out over rolling vineyards towards the ocean and beyond.

Created by the team from ‘Lost’, the retreat is the latest addition to the accommodation portfolio which already includes a Lakeside Retreat in Mount Jagged.

Soak up the spectacular views from the outdoor clawfoot bath located on an island deck nestled amongst the gum trees. Or stoke the fire and enjoy our record selection and good book.

TinyHome Private Escape – Adelaide Hills

The Adelaide Hills boasts some impressive sights, with rolling hills, star-filled skies and a number of Australian wildlife grazing about. You can take it all in at TinyHome Private Escape from the privacy of your own secluded outdoor bath. Finding itself nestled in a private organic farm, this accommodation brings together the best elements of glamping and tiny home accommodation. Perfect for a winter escape.

Clare Valley exclusive Tiny House – Kybunga

Grab yourself a glass of wine and unwind in an outdoor bathtub overlooking the Clare Valley on this beautiful getaway. Located just 8km from Clare centre, this tiny house is close to the action, and yet, it’s a secluded accommodation where you can relax (so secluded, in fact, you can bathe outside!)

Ode to the Orchard

Ode to the Orchard is a cosy cottage with a rustic vibe, perfect for your dream weekend escape.  It is one of the original stone homes of the area and is surrounded by stunning 360 degree views of picturesque Lenswood. And of course the main attraction, the gorgeous outdoor claw-foot bath. Don’t worry it’s under cover, so even if it is pouring with rain there is no better place to soak and enjoy a big glass of wine.

Coach Light Cabin

This luxurious tiny house is located in Aldinga, just a short drive away from McLaren Vale and an even shorter drive to the beach. While the fabulously built house is minimalist and modern, the copper bath tub on the outdoor deck is the main highlight of this cabin. Pour yourself a glass of wine and settle into a bath while enjoying the spectacular view of the vineyard and the outdoors.

Willunga Heritage Cottage

Willunga’s 1843 Heritage-listed cottage is straight out of a storybook with its vintage furnishings and decorations evocative of its time. It’s a short drive away from beaches, cafes, wine tasting venues and the famous Willunga produce market. The outdoor claw-foot tub has a cosy view of the gum trees that surround the property. This place is the perfect retreat if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

Kestrels Nest

You are greeted with the outdoor bath the moment you set foot onto Kestrels Nest. This beautiful home is nestled in the perfect spot close to the beach and the Aldinga Scrub Reservation Park. Bring your lover for a romantic weekend getaway or even a couple of friends to experience what it’s like to bathe in a big salad bowl. Watch the sun rise and set from the beautiful outdoor deck or if outdoor bathing isn’t your thing, they have a tub in the master suite too!
