Ah, August — the pinnacle of winter, full of cold nights and windy days. Will any of that stop us from experiencing the great events that are on in Adelaide over the course of the month?! Absolutely not.
We (barely) survived Dry July, so now it’s time to celebrate. There’s no excuse for you and your friends to say “there’s nothing to do in Adelaide,” because guess what? There is! And here’s all the info you need to know to make August the best month ever.
Book of Mormon | June 26 — August 18
The Book of Mormon is a musical comedy — a satirical performance on Mormon beliefs, which mainly focus on the positive power of love and service. The Book of Mormon will be showing at the Adelaide Festival Centre until August 18. Tickets can be purchased here.
Pinot Palooza | Aug 10
An unmissable event for wine lovers of SA, Pinot Palooza will showcase over 100 wines from Australia, New Zealand and beyond. You’ll leave with some great memories as you soak up the atmosphere of fine wine and music while surrounded by friends.

Hugh Jackman | Aug 10 — 13
Hugh Jackman is bringing a live show to Adelaide this August. The Man. The Music. The Show. World Tour will feature Jackman performing hit songs from The Greatest Showman, Les Miserables and more, all accompanied by a live orchestra.

Hilltop Hoods | Aug 17
Hilltop hoods will be returning to Adelaide for their ‘The Great Expanse World Tour’ this August after releasing their 6th number-one selling album, The Great Expanse.
After just being on tour with renowned rap artist Eminem, and headlining at Groovin’ the Moo music festival, there’s no doubt that their world tour will be anything less than an entertaining live performance.

AliCon | Aug 17 — 18
AliCon is a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fan convention held in Adelaide from August 17 to 18 at the National Wine Centre. An event for fans both young and old, the convention will involve fun activities, concerts and a panel of guest speakers.
For die-hard fans, the voice of Princess Celestia, Nicole Oliver, will be making an appearance at this year’s convention for a Q&A panel, autograph and photograph session. More information here.
Daffodil Day | Aug 23
Gather your group of friends or family for a memorable day volunteering or donating to Daffodil Day in order to raise money for cancer research. Hosted by The Cancer Council, Daffodil Day is held across the country in support of cancer research and to find hope in these dark situations.

Hahndorf Winter Lantern Festival | Aug 23 — 24
Get yourself to the Hahndorf Winter Lantern Festival for the ultimate wintry festival. You’ll be surrounded by candle-lit lanterns handcrafted from local school kids and Adelaide artists, as well as live music and plenty of food to keep you satisfied throughout the event.
The Hahndorf Winter Lantern Festival will begin Friday, August 23 with a live music performance, followed by a lantern parade and other entertainment on Saturday, August 24. More information here.
Festival of Wirra Wirra | Aug 31
Full of live music, food trucks and most importantly, wine, the Festival of Wirra Wirra will be a celebration you don’t want to miss. Enjoy a selection of wines by local wineries including of Mr.Riggs, Samson Tall and Ministry of Clouds.
The Festival of Wirra Wirra will be held at the Wirra Wirra Vineyards on Saturday, August 31 from 11am to 4:30pm. More information here.
Igloos at The Moseley | Month of Aug
The Moseley’s latest addition to their dining experience involves two igloos located outside the front of The Moseley Bar and Kitchen. These igloos offer a unique dining experience to be shared with friends for a catch up dinner or a family lunch.

The South Australian Living Artists Festival is a statewide festival of visual art held throughout the month of August. Exhibitions of local art can be found throughout the city or you can search for a specific artist on their program.
