No matter how you spell it, gourmet donuts are a favourite among sweet eaters, and luckily, there’s no shortage of choices in Adelaide.

From decadent dough surprises filled with an array of flavours such as Biscoff, strawberry cheesecake or even Aussie favourites like Milo, Adelaide’s bakeries have seriously stepped up their donut game and we’re here to tell you where you can get your hands on these sweet treats.

CJ’s Bakery

This down South staple has been a pillar in the bakery scene for years now, and the general public has noticed.

Other menu items recommended by Andrew, one of the Bakery’s owners, include their award-winning vanilla slices, steak pies, and even their loaves of sourdough. The bakery is one of the best in Australia and it’s seriously worth a trip down to Christies Beach.

OMG! Decadent Donuts

OMG! Decadent Donuts’ humble start began in 2017 at local farmers markets in and around Brisbane.

The focus then was to create delicious hot fresh donuts that were dusted in a range of unique handcrafted sugars, made from the freshest Australian fruits, spices and even vegetables.

Lukoumades

For those unfamiliar with Lukoumades, the business is named for the Greek donuts it champions, said to be one of the oldest pastries in history.

In fact, in Ancient Greece, the bite-sized, golden brown balls of dough were served to the winners of the Greek Olympics.

Lukoumades, the Adelaide-based business, has reinvented this historical dessert, mixing tradition with creativity.

Leeroy’s

Cereal doughnuts are about to land in the CBD • Glam Adelaide

Leeroy’s has taken the feeling of nostalgia and bottled it (if bottled means open up a cafe that serves cereal).

But they not only serve cereal, they also have an assortment of donuts that will get your tails wagging.

Doughnut World

Previously only available in Adelaide to order online, the popular dessert line has now set up shop in Glynde, offering its followers their delicious, insta-worthy doughnuts in the convenience of a walk-in store.

Offering up boxes and even doughnut bouquets for special occasions, such as Valentines Day, Christmas and Mother’s Day, as well as huge boxes perfect for your next function.

Browns Barossa Donuts

This incredible bakery nestled in Barossa’s Tanunda has built up a loyal following of sweet-toothed customers for their creative bakes.

Currently wowing customers at Brown Barossa Donuts, is the decadent Biscoff Cheesecake Donut. 

The brioche donut is filled full of their homemade biscoff cheesecake and dipped into warm Biscoff cookie butter, topped freshly with whipped cream and a sprinkle of crushed biscoff biscuit. This donut will blow your socks off, and you can get yours right now in-store along with their exclusive Biscoff Latte.

Please not that they will be closed from Wednesday 1st June to Tuesday 7th June. They will back up & running on Wednesday 8th of June from 8:30 a.m.

Port Elliot Bakery

The endless queues that wrap around the surrounding streets of the Port Elliot bakery are now legendary, with hordes of hungry customers eager to try their much-anticipated monthly donut flavorus. 

The talented team have recently announced their much-anticipated Milo and KitKat donut. Packed with whipped Milo cream, the sugary sweet donut is topped with a rich chocolate icing, a drizzle of dark chocolate syrup and broken up KitKat pieces. The Milo and KitKat offering comes after July’s popular peanut butter and jelly donut proved a huge success with customers.

Café De Vilis 

This iconic bakery has garnered a stellar reputation in Adelaide for its epic savoury and sweet bakes. For chocoholics and coffee-lovers alike, 

Vili’s have this week released a limited-edition espresso martini donut that is available throughout August and is sure to impress! The donut is made with a layer of chocolate ganache, topped with a fresh cream, and infused with coffee and a dash of Kahlua. Dipped in a sweet coffee truffle the donut is then rolled in some crushed Oreos and home-made crumble for an added bit of crunch. Get all the information on the donut here.

Cakeboy Donuts

Tucked away in Bowden’s popular haunt Plant 4, Cakeboy Donuts serves some of the best vegan donuts in town. The tasty treats are also available in the IGA next door, but when Plant 4 is open, pop into their stall where they bake their donuts fresh every day! These donuts are incredible, we recommend the peanut butter pretzel flavour!

Bakery on O’Connell

The Bakery on O’Connell is a cultural gem, making it a must have inclusion on an Adelaide epic donut guide.

The bakery recently welcomed two delicious options of Cronut (a sugary sweet and equally delicious hybrid of the croissant and the donut) both in FruChoc and salty pretzel flavours.

Dare yourself to try a Cronut, available every Saturday and Sunday, and on weekdays after 5pm.

Jenny’s Bakery

Jenny’s Bakery is notorious in Adelaide for its baked goods and creative combos, previously including Tim Tam Cronuts, Oreo croissants, Caramilk Cronuts, and Mars Bar Cronuts. 

Currently on offer at Jennys is a caramel dream: a caramel violet crumble cronut that sounds too good to miss.

Bake Bakery

Bake Bakery will leave donut lovers speechless with the rows upon rows of mouth-watering gourmet donuts they have to offer. 

Creating both your standard and ganache-filled donuts with many flavours ranging from chocolate to coffee to mint, a recent favourite of ours is the Eton mess Cronut – it tastes as amazing as it looks!
