SA MUSEUM LEGO TREASURE HUNT
A rare Viking treasure trove is here in Adelaide for the first time ever. The South Australian Museum is hosting Treasures of the Viking Age: The Galloway Hoard, a world-first exhibition showcasing more than 100 artefacts from one of Europe’s most significant archaeological discoveries. Found in Scotland in 2014 and dating back to around 900 CE, the Hoard includes intricately crafted silver arm rings, beads, brooches and other buried treasures—many on display for the very first time outside the UK.
Through immersive audio-visuals, 3D reconstructions, and expert conservation, visitors will uncover the stories hidden in these ancient objects and gain insight into Viking life and trade networks across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The museum will also unveil two authentic Viking Age brooches from its own collection—never before exhibited.
A packed program of events will run alongside the exhibition, including a two-day Viking festival (Vikingfest) on 28–29 June, school holiday activities, sensory-friendly sessions, and family-friendly fun on the Museum’s front lawn.

LENSWOOD ORCHARD PICK YOUR OWN
If you’re looking for a wholesome day out that combines fresh air, family fun and a little seasonal magic, Lenswood Pick Your Own is the place to be. With just a few weeks left of apple season, expected to wrap up by mid to late May, now is the perfect time to head to the orchard.
Open every day throughout the school holidays (and Wednesday to Sunday after that), the orchard is a fantastic spot for families to explore, learn, and make memories. Over Easter, they’re open 9am–4pm daily, including all public holidays, with a special Easter egg hunt in the orchard.
On Easter Sunday from 11am to 2pm, roving photographer JoJo from Fine Art Family Photography will be capturing magical moments in the orchard, ideal for that perfect seasonal family photo. Photography sessions are also available to book on select days throughout the season.
What’s in season? Granny Smith, Fuji and Golden Delicious apples are ripe for the picking, with Pink Lady apples expected to be ready by mid-next week.
Kids can also dive into the free Pomology Trail, where they’ll wander the orchard learning how apples are grown, and finish with a certificate for their efforts. Plus, there’s plenty to keep little ones entertained, including a giant sandpit, five vintage tractors to climb, and the on-site Humble Farm Café serving up locally baked goods and Stirling’s Hokey Pokey ice cream.
They’re even open on ANZAC Day, with a meaningful community touch. Every year, $1 from every kilogram of apples sold on the day is donated to the Lobethal RSL, along with a sausage sizzle by donation. Since opening, they’ve raised an impressive $9,215.

Carclew’s much-loved Holiday Camp is back this April, bringing five days of fun, creativity and hands-on workshops to their stunning North Adelaide location. At Wardli Youth Centre, budding artists aged 8 to 17 can dive into the world of comic book creation on Thursday 17 April. This hands-on workshop explores superhero, fantasy and sci-fi storytelling while helping participants build their drawing skills.
For young food lovers, the Wardli cooking program on Thursday 24 April offers two sessions. Kids aged 8 to 13 can get cooking in the morning, while teens aged 14 to 18 take over the kitchen in the afternoon. It’s a fun, relaxed space where kids can learn recipes and gain confidence.
Teens after something more low-key can pop into Studio 20 Youth Centre for drop-in sessions on 16, 17, 23 and 24 April. Open from 12 pm to 4 pm, the space offers games, art activities and snacks in a chilled-out setting for ages 13 and up.
Families can also enjoy a movie marathon at the Hub Library on Thursday 24 April. One film screens at 10 am, followed by its sequel at 1 pm. Kids must be accompanied by an adult, and no bookings are required.

PORT ADELAIDE ENFIELD SCHOOL HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES
Families in the Port Adelaide Enfield area are in for a treat this school holidays, with a packed program of activities happening across local libraries, community centres, and sports facilities. Whether your child is into crafts, sports, technology or just trying something new, there’s a great mix of options to keep them entertained.
The Lights Community and Sports Centre is running a variety of sessions for kids of all ages, from energetic sports and e-sports challenges to creative arts and crafts. Over at Kilburn Community Centre, families can enjoy fun-filled days with face painting, mini golf, bouncy castles and giant games—perfect for younger children or mixed-age groups.

EASTER COLOURING-IN COMPETITION RUNDLE MALL PLAZA
Kids aged 8 and under can get creative these school holidays with a fun (and free!) colouring-in competition at Rundle Mall Plaza. Running from 10 to 27 April, the activity zone is set up on Level 1 of the food court, right across from Clio Café.
Little artists can enjoy some downtime with colouring sheets provided, and by entering their artwork into the competition, they’ll go in the draw to win a huge Easter Hamper worth $200. It’s a great way to keep young ones entertained while you shop, with the added bonus of a sweet prize up for grabs.
Entries close on Monday 28 April, and the lucky winner will be announced on Thursday 1 May. No bookings needed—just drop in, get colouring, and cross your fingers!
