The June long weekend is around the corner, and from massive parties to sporting events to acoustic wine afternoons, we’ve compiled what’s on.

The June long weekend is around the corner, and whilst June marks the beginning of winter, there’s no need to hibernate just yet. Instead, it might be time to dust off your dancing shoes, as long as you’re careful not to spill your winter red!

Here are some great events on for the June long weekend.

The Winter Village

The Winter Village is an outdoor pop-up event running May 14th to September 5th situated at Torrens Parade Ground. This magical winter wonderland in the heart of Adelaide will be open all June long weekend to enjoy ice-skating, snow showers, a pop-up bar & kitchen, and the magical igloo village.

Adelaide Cabaret Festival | June 11

The June long weekend marks the start of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival. Established in 2001 and the biggest cabaret festival in the world, Adelaide Festival Centre’s Adelaide Cabaret Festival is a major event in the international and Australian arts calendar. The Variety Gala launches the festival on Friday, 11th June.

Adelaide Thunderbirds Game | June 12

The Adelaide Thunderbirds take to the court in the world’s best netball competition, Suncorp Super Netball. On Saturday 12 June at 6.30pm at Adelaide Entertainment Centre, the Thunderbirds will play the NSW Swifts. With new and exciting VIP experiences and courtside seating, this is a great family-friendly event for the long weekend.

SANFL FOOTY | June 12 -14

Rug up with your footy scarf and beanie and get along to a SANFL Statewide Super League match this long weekend. There’s a game on each day of the long weekend, starting Saturday afternoon with the Eagles up against Port Adelaide at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval (Woodville), followed by Sturt v Adelaide at Unley Oval on Sunday.

Queen’s Birthday footy also is back, with two big games on Monday – South Adelaide v Norwood at Flinders University Stadium (Noarlunga) and Glenelg v North Adelaide at ACH Group Stadium (Glenelg).

Day Dance | June 13

Get your crew together for a day in McLaren Vale at the new June long weekend food and wine tour. The new event is day session and a dance session between the Simon Hackett and Woodstock wineries on Sunday, 13th June. Final release tickets are $90 and include entry into both wineries, private bus transport all day, and a Day Dance wine glass.

Electra House Old School R&B and House Party | June 13

Much-loved CBD bar Electra House is kicking it old school for the June long weekend, celebrating the queen’s birthday with a line-up of DJs and two floors of fun. The first level of Electra House’s two-storey venue will have old-school house tunes, with DJs Well, Matt G, FBI, Thomas V, Ultima, and Sami spinning tracks. On the second floor, there will be old school R&B, with Audioporn, RMAD, Trim, Señor Sanchez, Sarez, Paul Marshman, and Souli playing throwback favourites. Find out more here.

Sip & Sounds | June 13

As part of the 2021 Year of South Australian Wine, Sip & Sounds will be returning on June 13 to the stunning Hickinbotham Hall at the National Wine Centre this June. This event will bring together a collection of wineries, breweries and gin distilleries, as well as a range of delicious festival food and a line-up of stellar local music.

Rosés on Sundays at Thorn-Clarke | June 13

Cosy up at Thorn-Clarke Wines on Sunday, 13 June for the winter edit of Rosés on Sundays. Grab a Barossa grazing box and a glass of rosé while you listen to the musings of the talented Erin Jae. The series runs through September until the winter months are over, and the long weekend is a wonderful time to enjoy the events.

Get Your Groove On | June 14

Sinclair’s Gully winery will be hosting Adelaide acoustic musician Tim Lorimar with an eclectic mix of classics from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s to modern-day. BYO picnic and purchase your Sinclair’s Gully wines for an afternoon of tunes, food and vino on Monday, 14 June.

The Highway iPod Shuffle Party | June 13

The Highway are giving you the chance to take home an ultimate cash prize of $2000, and literally all you have to do is show up, and well…dance! When purchasing a ticket, you’ll be prompted to select a song. If your song is chosen at midnight, you could win big!

Fat Tyre Festival | June 11-14

Over the weekend, the small town of Melrose in the southern Flinders ranges will see its tiny population swell to the thousands as mountain bike and gravel riders turn up with tents, campers and swags for the annual Melrose Fat Tyre Festival.  Perfect for bike enthusiasts.

Paxton Wines NOW 2021 Vintage Release | June 14

Paxton Wines are giving us another reason to celebrate the Queen’s birthday this year with a picnic event to celebrate the pre-release of their 2021 NOW wine range. The event invites all guests to bring their own picnic rugs or blankets to enjoy a lazy afternoon outside, or cosy up inside the pavilion pending the weather.
