If your morning ritual is visiting your favourite coffee shop for your caffeine hit – whether that is a regular flat white, oat milk latte or even iced long black! Then discovering that cafe is closing for renovations is enough to give you real heart palpations…
Owners of Exchange Coffee on Vardon Avenue in the city’s east end says to their customers there is nothing to fret about as the team will operate a coffee cart for the weeks in April when the cafe will be shut for renovations.
“Being next-door to Frank’s Barber Shop for almost a decade made growing into the Barber Shop space the obvious choice when deciding to expand the Exchange café,” said owner Tom.
“The upgrade will allow us to gain and extra third of the shop again for customer bar space and production space in the kitchen.”
“At our busiest times we have hit the ceiling when it comes to growth and this expansion will enable us to grow with the popularity of the café and meet the needs of our customers and the community.”
‘Our current location is gold. There are pockets of the east end like Vardon Ave and Ebenezer place that continue to draw loyal crowds and we want to remain part of that trend,” added Tom.

Adelaide’s East End is the CBD’s home of culture and entertainment. A stylish neighbourhood, with street art, boutiques, restaurants, iconic pubs, small bars, and cafes… it’s where the locals go for their latte or long black.
“In the 10 years that we have been here we have seen so much development and so much positive growth and we are looking forward to being part of the next decade,” said Tom.
“It’s time to keep moving forward in leaps and bounds.:”
The Exchange Coffee venue will expand to be able to offer more product space, not necessarily dining area at this stage. It’s about being able to keep up with demand and offer high consistency.
