OH MY GOD GUYS there’s a whole FESTIVAL for gin lovers! Buy your loved one tickets to this and you’ll be at the top of the good list for a very long time. We’re not pulling any punches here — this event is for hardcore gin enthusiasts only. Why else would Glen Ewin Estate bring together South Australia’s foremost distillers? Or bother spit-roasting a pig swathed in gin? An epic day for all gin lovers. They’ll be celebrating World Gin Day with hourly prizes, a sweeping variety of tastings and masterclasses for the true gin worshippers. Buy tickets and find out more info here.

World Gin Day Gin Degustation

The Propaganda Club, being a place that’s all over good gin, is holding an event this June that looks set to be a cracker. It’s a combo of their First Birthday and a World Gin Dinner. They have collaborated with 6 Artesian Gin Producers to bring you a once in a lifetime gin experience. Be immersed in the dinner, tastings and meet the maker. It’s set to be an extraordinary evening of food and gin pairings to delight the senses. Read all about it here.

Gin & Tonic Chocolate Truffles

If you haven’t discovered these bad boys yet, you’re missing out. We went mad for them over Easter – and trust us, they make THE PERFECT present for a gin lover. Just Bliss South Australian small batch chocolatier wanted to create a G&T truffle using a local SA Gin. They were lucky to be able to select from a great range of local Gins, and ended up choosing Settlers Rare Dry Gin based on its flavour profile. Settlers make their Gin from grapes grown on the McLaren Vale property instead of traditional grain. The G&T truffle centre is made from an emulsion of chocolate (they use couverture for its high cocoa butter content and smooth mouthfeel) and cream. For an even creamier mouthfeel they then whip butter into it.There’s a milk chocolate and a dark chocolate option. Shop them in store (Gawler Place off Rundle Mall) or online here.

World Gin Day At The Adelaide Central Markets

While this doesn’t cost anything, they DO say that the best things in life are free! Give a mate a day of complete happiness at the Adelaide Central Markets, where they’ll be celebrating World Gin Day with some of South Australia’s finest distilleries.  Prohibition Liquor Co. and Kangaroo Island Spirits are joining forces to present tastings and food pairings of their award winning gin.  Feel free to have high expectations of these two producers with Prohibition recently taking out Australia’s best gin at the prestigious New York International Spirits Competition and KIS taking out the Champion’s Trophy in the Australian Distilled Spirits Awards.  Gin lovers won’t want to miss tastings and this exclusive opportunity to get up close and personal with these talented South Australian producers! The day will kick off at 12pm with a cooking demonstration by Callum Hann pairing gin with Market produce, followed by samples and gin tastings from 1pm. More info here.

If you have a friend who is a connoisseur of gin, (or who are we kidding, they just LOVE a good G&T) you need to put Red Hen Gin on your radar. As winners at the recent Australian Distilled Spirits Awards (ADSA) for “Champion Small Batch Gin, we can concur that this is the good stuff. And SA made of course. Got any more suggestions? We’d love to hear them! South Australia is, after all, the Gin State.
