Youth Revolution Gala Concert

AdYO-Youth-Revolution230 Musicians, 4 Orchestras & 1 Very Special Guest Soloist!

The Adelaide Youth Orchestras’ (AdYO) Youth Revolution Gala Concert on Sunday, 1 September at the Adelaide Town Hall is shaping up to be another superb showcase of South Australia’s best young musical talent – with a guest appearance by internationally acclaimed soloist and Adelaide Symphony Orchestra concertmaster, Natsuko Yoshimoto and the inclusion of the Adelaide Youth Wind Orchestra in the program for the very first time.

A near sell-out event for the past two years running, this year’s concert will feature dynamic performances by the 80-piece Adelaide Youth Orchestra (AdYO), the 60-piece Adelaide Youth Sinfonia (AdSI), the 60-piece Adelaide Youth Strings (AYS) and the newest member of the AdYO’s family – the Adelaide Youth Wind Orchestra (AdYWO). AdYWO officially joined the organisation’s fold this year and the 30-piece wind orchestra of high school and tertiary aged woodwind and brass musicians, along with percussionists, is Adelaide’s first full-time youth wind orchestra.

“The Adelaide Youth Wind Orchestra has already performed two concerts this year, to great acclaim, and we’re thrilled to have them joining our Gala Concert program for the first time as they’ll bring a whole new dimension to this already popular event,” says Associate Professor Keith Crellin OAM, AdYOs’s Artistic Director.

This year, AdYO will will perform Max Bruch’s dramatic Scottish Fantasy with the orchestra. Scottish Fantasy is a well-known classical violin piece comprising four movements –each based on a different Scottish folk tune.

“Having Natsuko at the Gala is a bonus not only for the audience, but for the young players in the Adelaide Youth Orchestra,” says Crellin. “We all look forward to being swept away by her performance.”

Of the other two orchestras performing at the Gala, AdSI comprises high school aged musicians and the AYS features primary school aged musicians. For more info visit www.adyo.com.au
