Zoos SA make changes to vaccine mandate

Zoos SA has made changes to their current vaccine mandate that affects both the Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Safari Park.

Zoos SA has just announced major changes to its mandates around the Covid-19 vaccination.

From late-last year, both the Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Safari Park introduced tough new restrcitions requiring all visitors to be fully vaccinated causing a stir among the general public.

Zoos SA made the tough decision as a way to protect its animals, staff, volunteers and visitors to ensure their safety and wellbeing. As the pandemic continued, the organisation regularly assessed its position with consideration to the changing environment, government regulations and the severity and transmissibility of COVID-19.

In line with this and with this and its understanding of the current dominant COVID-19 strains and variants, Zoos SA today announced that they will be lifting the current vaccination mandate for visitors to our sites effective this Saturday 7 May 2022.

This means that visitors will not be required to provide evidence of vaccination to enter Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Safari Park.

If you are taking part in an animal experience with animals more susceptible to COVID-19 all people, including all children of all ages, must wear a face mask, These will be provided by Zoos SA should you need.

This includes any experiences with Lions, Giraffe, Meerkats, Giant Panda and Red Panda. Zoos SA requests that if you do not feel that your child will wear a mask, please wait until there are further rule changes. Exemptions are not allowed in this instance due to animal welfare.

If you have any questions, please visit the Zoos SA website.
