Adelaide Convention Centre Claims Title For Third Year

For the third year running, the Adelaide Convention Centre has claimed the winning title in the Meetings and Tourism category of the South Australia Tourism Industry Awards, revealed last week at the 2010 gala dinner.

Along with the much-coveted award, however, the Adelaide Convention Centre has also reaped a position in the prestigious Hall of Fame. At the Qantas National Tourism Awards – taking place in Perth early next year – the venue will now vie for the national title for what will be the third year in a row.

Albert Gilbert, the Adelaide Convention Centre’s Chief Executive, claims the prestigious accolade was consequentially thanks to his team and their untiring Gold Service, Green Attitude.

“We offer world-class facilities and maintain exceptional standards, and the efforts of our dedicated staff ensure the consistent deliver of high-quality events.

“Part of the superior product we provide is our commitment to environmental sustainability and we have numerous initiatives in place to reduce our carbon footprint to allow us to provide gold class service while being environmentally responsible,” he said.

The Adelaide Convention Centre plays a pivotal role for tourism – aimed particularly at business travellers – in South Australia. The centre has held over 600 conferences and events in the last year, attracting over 28,000 visitors to the state.

“With conference delegates convening at the Adelaide Convention Centre, millions of dollars are poured into hotels, restaurants, cafes and tourism operator throughout the state each year,” said Mr Gilbert.

“When you consider our outstanding levels of professionalism and service and our commitment to the environment, it’s no wonder that Adelaide is regarded as Australia’s convention city,” he added.

The multi-award-winning Adelaide Convention Centre is widely acknowledged for its excellence, its shining global reputation ranking it amongst many of the the world’s top convention centres. Winner AIPC International Innovation Award for Excellence in Convention Centre Management, Winner Qantas Australian Tourism Awards for Meetings and Business Tourism and Winner Meetings & Events Australia Awards for Best Meeting Venue and Corporate Social Responsibility, there’s certainly no question about the centre’s recent hat-trick.
