Award-winning health and medical research will be brought out of the laboratory and into the
public eye when the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI)
presents the Hidden Beauty of Science exhibition at Burnside Village as part of National
Science Week from 13 to 23 August.

The striking exhibition showcases captivating images captured through the course of
groundbreaking medical research, revealing the unexpected beauty found within science
and human health.

The exhibition offers customers a rare glimpse into the world of scientific discovery,
transforming complex research into eye catching visual works that inspire curiosity and
highlight the important role health and medical research plays in improving lives.

Burnside Village Centre General Manager Jodie Kannane says the exhibition reflects the
centre’s commitment to delivering meaningful community experiences.

“Burnside Village is a destination where our community comes together, and we’re always
looking for opportunities to surprise and engage our customers,” she says.

“Hosting the Hidden Beauty of Science allows us to share the incredible work being
undertaken by SAHMRI with thousands of people who visit the centre each week, many of
whom may never have had the opportunity to step inside a research laboratory.”
SAHMRI Strategic Research Engagement Manager, Dr Ben Lewis, says the exhibition
provides an accessible way for the community to engage with medical science.

“Hidden Beauty of Science showcases the remarkable images generated through health and
medical research and highlights the discoveries that are helping improve health outcomes
for South Australians and people around the world,” Dr Lewis says.

“Bringing the exhibition to Burnside Village enables us to connect directly with the
community, sharing the beauty, innovation and impact of medical research in an engaging
and approachable way.”
