An Adelaide Hills favourite is set to take diners on a trip to Argentina, with an afternoon of smoky barbecue, South Australian wine and live Latin music coming to Hahndorf.
Comida Hahndorf is teaming up with Adelaide Hills winemaker Martin Moran of Mordrelle Wines for a special tasting experience celebrating the flavours of Argentina and the region’s love of good food and wine.

For the event, Martin will cook a traditional Argentinian-style barbecue over an open fire, with guests treated to a spread of flame-grilled favourites including skirt steak, pork belly and sausages. The feast will be served with fresh chimichurri, bringing the bright, herby flavours of Argentina to the table.
Guests can enjoy Comida’s garden surroundings, with fire pits, wine and live Latin music adding to the atmosphere. Tickets include a glass of Mordrelle wine for adults, while the event is designed as a relaxed afternoon rather than a formal wine tasting, giving guests the chance to eat, drink and soak up the atmosphere.

For Martin, the event also brings together two parts of his story that have shaped his winemaking journey, Argentina and South Australia.
Martin grew up visiting his grandfather’s family winery in Mendoza, Argentina, where he developed an early connection to vineyards and winemaking. He later studied agricultural engineering, specialising in viticulture and oenology, before moving to Australia and working vintages across Langhorne Creek, the Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale.
In South Australia, he met his wife Michelle, and her parents later became involved in the family’s first trial vintage. Mordrelle Wines has since developed a reputation for handcrafted wines.

Now, those wines will meet the flavours of Martin’s childhood for an afternoon at Comida.
The Hahndorf venue has become a popular destination for Spanish-inspired food since opening its sprawling restaurant in 2020, following Comida’s beginnings as a home-based catering business and Adelaide Central Market stall.
Earlier this year, Comida was named the Australian Good Food Guide People’s Choice winner for SA Best Spanish Restaurant, with its large paellas, share-style tapas and expansive garden helping draw diners to the Adelaide Hills venue.
The restaurant’s garden will provide the backdrop for the upcoming event, giving guests plenty of room to settle in while the barbecue cooks over the fire.

So whether you’re there for the steak, the wine, the live music or simply an excuse to spend an afternoon in Hahndorf, the event promises a distinctly South American twist on an Adelaide Hills long lunch.
