An urgent Federal Court application has been lodged in relation to works associated with Adelaide’s upcoming MotoGP, with the South Australian Government confirming it intends to defend its position.
The State Government confirmed that it was aware of an application seeking an urgent interim injunction over the works.
“The Crown Solicitor’s Office is currently considering the application, including the orders sought and the grounds on which they are sought,” the State Government said.
“The Government intends to defend its position and will respond through the appropriate court processes.”
Further information about the application, including the detailed grounds for the action, has not yet been released publicly. The Government said it would not comment on the merits of the case while the matter was before the court.
The legal action comes as planning continues for Adelaide’s new street circuit, which is set to host the MotoGP Grand Prix of Australia from 2027. The proposed 4.13-kilometre, 15-corner circuit includes sections of the Adelaide Park Lands, with construction currently planned to begin in December 2026.
