Adelaide weather forecast for Friday November 6 and the days ahead

Adelaide is heading for a cool weekend, a warm start to next week and a possible midweek shower, while parts of regional South Australia face showers, thunderstorms and strong marine winds.

Adelaide is heading into a varied week of spring weather, with a mild end to Friday, a cooler weekend, then a warm-up early next week before cloudier conditions return by Wednesday.

For the rest of today, Adelaide is set for a mostly sunny day with a top of 23 degrees, though there is a slight chance of a shower this evening. Winds will shift through the day, starting light before turning northwesterly to southwesterly at 15 to 25 km/h, then becoming southerly by evening. Across the suburbs, temperatures will sit around 24 degrees in Elizabeth, 22 at Glenelg, 21 in Mount Barker and 22 in Noarlunga. It is also worth keeping sun safety in mind, with a very high UV Index of 10 forecast between 9am and 4:50pm.

The weekend will bring a cooler change for Adelaide. Saturday is forecast to be partly cloudy, with cloud clearing later and temperatures dropping to a top of 20 degrees after an overnight low of 11. Southerly winds at 15 to 25 km/h will tend southeasterly through the middle of the day, keeping things on the crisp side.

Sunday looks like the pick of the weekend, with sunny skies returning and a cooler morning low of 9 degrees before climbing to a pleasant 24. Southeasterly winds will turn easterly during the morning, helping deliver a bright and settled day across the city.

By Monday, Adelaide starts to warm up again. Partly cloudy conditions are expected, with temperatures lifting from 14 degrees overnight to 28 during the day. East to northeasterly winds will tend north to northeasterly in the morning before turning easterly in the afternoon. Tuesday stays mostly sunny and remains warm, with a top of 26 degrees after a mild 17-degree start, before a southerly change moves through later in the day.

Midweek brings another shift. Wednesday is expected to turn cloudy, with a slight chance of a shower and a noticeably cooler top of 21 degrees. Thursday improves again with partly cloudy skies and a forecast maximum of 25, making for a calmer finish to the seven-day stretch.

Across regional South Australia, conditions are more mixed. Showers are expected about windward coasts today, extending across the southern agricultural area during the afternoon and evening, while isolated showers or thunderstorms may develop in the far west late. Saturday keeps the chance of light morning showers about the agricultural area, with showers or thunderstorms again possible in the far west. By Sunday, possible showers or thunderstorms in the west are forecast to extend into central districts during the day, while patchy frost is also possible in the southeast early. Monday looks more unsettled through the pastoral districts and nearby southern areas, where showers or thunderstorms may develop as a trough moves in from the west. Rainfall totals are generally expected to stay light across the state, though the North West Pastoral and South East districts could see 2 to 5 mm, with isolated falls of 5 to 10 mm possible about the far northwest and far southeast.

For those heading onto the water, Adelaide Metropolitan Waters will see west to northwesterly winds tending southwesterly this afternoon and evening, with seas building to 1 to 1.5 metres by early evening. Conditions ease across the weekend, with partly cloudy skies Saturday and sunny weather on Sunday.
