It was just over a year ago that Tank Stream Labs opened its first South Australian hub in the heart of Adelaide, giving business owners a professional workspace backed by a wider business community.
After opening at 63 Pirie Street in August 2025, the hub is now celebrating its first birthday with a free open day on Wednesday, September 23.
Visitors will be able to work from one of 40 coworking desks, while eight private suites will also be available for teams. Guests can tour the two-level space and join a community breakfast from 8.30am, offering the chance to meet existing members and experience the workspace firsthand.
For Tank Stream Labs Adelaide manager Rhiannon Pinyon, one of the biggest surprises of the past year has been how quickly members began connecting with one another.
“You can build a beautiful space, but you can’t force a community, and watching this one come together naturally has been the best part of the year,” Rhiannon said.
Tank Stream Labs Adelaide began with just a handful of foundation members and has since grown to ten businesses and 74 members across its private suites and coworking spaces.
It has also partnered with organisations including One Roof, Southstart and Women in Creative Technologies to host events and workshops for members and Adelaide’s broader business community.
“We wanted to give South Australian businesses a professional space with a real community behind it, plus access to the wider Tank Stream Labs network and business support,” Rhiannon said.
“A year in, that’s what it’s becoming, and it’s been rewarding to watch it grow.”
That experience has also resonated with members.
One business recently moved into Tank Stream Labs Adelaide from another serviced office, describing the space as bright, well-designed and enjoyable to work from.
“The space itself is bright and well laid out, with ergonomic desks, great communal areas, and views that actually make coming into the office enjoyable,” they said.
“Overall, it feels like a well-run workspace with a strong sense of community.”
For one self-employed financial adviser, the professional environment has become an important part of meeting clients face-to-face.
They said the lounge areas, meeting rooms and shared facilities allowed them to welcome clients into a professional setting while still working alongside a diverse mix of small businesses.
Heading into its second year, Tank Stream Labs is looking to expand its member network, events program and connections with Adelaide’s startup and business community.
“We’ve built the community, now we want to grow it and give members even more reasons to be here, with more events, a bigger female founder program and closer ties to the local startup ecosystem,” Rhiannon said.
The Adelaide hub brings startups, entrepreneurs and established businesses together under one roof, while also connecting members to Tank Stream Labs’ broader national network.
“We’re looking to grow our member community, expand the events and experiences we offer, and create more opportunities for businesses to access the people, knowledge and networks that can help them grow,” Rhiannon said.
“We’re also really focused on creating more connections between our Adelaide community and the broader Tank Stream Labs and Scalare Partners ecosystem, giving local businesses access to a much bigger network beyond South Australia.”
Anyone who joins Tank Stream Labs before December 1 will also be eligible for a special membership offer, tailored to the type of workspace and membership term selected.
The free open day is aimed at everyone from solo operators currently working from home to growing teams considering a private office, as well as businesses wanting to explore a more flexible way of working.
Visitors are encouraged to bring their laptop and settle in for the day, meet members and see how the space operates before deciding whether coworking could work for them.
And for anyone wondering why it’s called tank stream? The co working business started in Sydney located near the Tank Stream. The original Tank Stream was the freshwater creek that flowed into Sydney Cove and became the early European settlement’s main water supply.
