This September, oysters take centre stage in the CBD as Oyster Fest makes a grand return to The Kitchen at SkyCity Adelaide for four weeks.
Celebrating the state’s peak oyster season with freshly shucked oysters, cocktails, wine and a special seafood-inspired menu, SkyCity Rewards members can enjoy oysters for just $1 between 4pm and 5:30pm, Tuesday to Friday throughout September, while non-members can tuck into them for $2 each. The only catch, the offer is available with the purchase of any drink.
Central to the festivities will be a dedicated oyster bar and shucking station, where oysters are opened to order and served alongside a limited-time menu of light bites and drinks, as well as The Kitchen’s full à la carte offering.
The stars of Oyster Fest are travelling from the waters of South Australia’s western Eyre Peninsula, with The Kitchen sourcing its oysters from Zippel’s Smoky Bay Oysters through a long-term partnership with International Oysters & Seafood.
One of Australia’s largest and oldest continuing family-run oyster farms, Zippel’s operates in the pristine waters of the Southern Ocean, with this season’s oysters said to have a sweet flavour and lingering finish.
“When you’re serving oysters this fresh, honestly the work is already done for you,” said The Kitchen’s Head Chef Raj Kumar. “These oysters are hand-picked, and you can taste that care in every single one, the flavours of Smoky Bay are amazing this season, especially with a martini or dry Riesling.”
Of course, no oyster session is complete without something to eat and drink alongside them.
The Kitchen will be serving up a selection of seasonal snacks including green olive and white anchovy skewers, Yorkshire pudding with salmon roe cream and spicy salami, plus freshly baked sourdough with bone marrow spread and dukkah.
There’s also a dedicated Oyster Fest cocktail menu, with drinks like the Talisker Seaside Whisky Sour, The Perfect Ten Martini and an Oyster Bloody Mary all making the list.
Guests wanting to make an afternoon of it can settle in from 4pm and explore The Kitchen’s broader menu, which focuses on premium dining and South Australian produce.
SkyCity Rewards membership is free and unlocks the $1 oyster price, alongside other dining discounts and member benefits across SkyCity Adelaide. Oyster Fest will run at The Kitchen, Station Road, SkyCity Adelaide, from Tuesday to Friday, September 1st to 30th, from 4pm to 5:0pm.
