We all know the struggle when someone steals your food – it’s never fun. And that’s the situation Mickster The Trickster finds himself in in his brand new Fringe show – Mickster’s Magic Gadgets at Gluttony.

In the kids show, Mickster the magician has to battle a series of clues from his arch nemesis, who has stolen his celebratory, post-show cheeseburger.

Things started strong with Mickster setting his hand on fire and making two real birds appear, then disappear again. From there on in, things are more aimed at the kids.

Sporting his bright orange puffer vest and interacting closely with the audience, Mickster works his way through through the clues, using balloons, smoke, machines, and even chewing gum to get through.

The magic is more new-age, with plenty of technology involved. And of course when there’s technology, there’s always the risk of glitches – and this show had its fair share. But it’s a brand new show – the weekend’s two shows were the first time it was performed in front of a live audience – so you can expect these would be ironed out in the coming weeks.

If your kids love the stage and getting involved, this is a great one to take them along to, with plenty of audience participation throughout.

For the adults, it can be a touch slow at times. But for the kids, it ticks all the boxes, and even the littlies who took a while to warm up to the show were screaming out answers and having a great time by the end.
