Thunderstorms have swept the state, causing flooding. See some of the incredible images captured of the extreme weather event across SA.

As South Australia has been battered by storms and hail this week, social media has gone wild with coverage of the damage and wild weather.

There have been severe thunderstorms warnings for the Adelaide region, with thunder, lightning and damaging winds hitting the state.

Severe storms have been detected on the weather radar for Kangaroo Island and parts of the Yorke Peninsula and North East Pastoral districts. These thunderstorms are expected to cause flooding, impacting multiple roads across the Flood Watch area, particularly in the Yorke and Eyre peninsulas, Flinders Ranges and Broughton River catchment. Local communities may be isolated.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

  • Secure or put away loose items around your property.
  • Move cars under cover or away from trees.
  • Keep clear of fallen power lines.
  • Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.

Warnings have also been issued for fire weather and coastal waters, with other weather warnings likely during the next few days.

Here’s a selection of the photos and videos shared.
