A Gawler East charity pop-up shop that opened to a rush of shoppers is making one final appeal for community support after its fourth day passed without a single customer.
Threads of Love is holding its final day on Tuesday, September 8th, with racks of quality pre-loved women’s clothing, shoes, scarves and bags available for just $1 per item.
The pop-up shop will be open from 8am to 4pm at 3 Mary Street, Gawler East, with all sizes and styles available.
“On our opening day, there were cars lined up outside and more than 50 people came through, purchasing 176 pieces of clothing,” shared organiser Lorelle Molde.
“By day four, not one customer walked through the door. After countless hours spent collecting, washing, sorting and displaying the clothes, standing among all those full racks in complete silence was heartbreaking.”
But the fundraiser is about more than finding a bargain, with every dollar raised going towards the Leap of Faith team’s fundraising efforts for South Australian charity Puddle Jumpers Incorporated.
“This has never simply been about selling clothes. Every dollar we raise represents another small step towards giving vulnerable children and families opportunities for safety, connection, happiness and hope,” said Lorelle.
There is also an extra incentive for anyone who shops on the final day, with every purchase receiving one complimentary entry into a special in-store draw to win a gift basket.
The shopper draw is separate from the team’s major online raffle, which features more than 50 prizes.
For those unable to make it to Gawler East, raffle tickets are available online, with every ticket contributing to the fundraising effort.
Threads of Love is the final fundraiser for the 14-member Leap of Faith team, who abseiled 70 metres, roughly the height of 25 floors, down Adelaide’s InterContinental Hotel on August 29th.
The team has raised more than $18,000, enough to help fund three Puddle Jumpers camps, while the 2026 Adelaide Puddle Jumpers Plunge has now raised more than $100,000 overall.
“Our original dream was to raise enough to fund the Christmas camp,” said Lorelle.
“To discover that our team has now raised enough to help fund three camps is incredibly emotional. It shows what ordinary people can achieve when they come together and decide that every child matters.”
Puddle Jumpers supports vulnerable children, young people and families across South Australia, with a particular focus on children who do not live with their birth parents.
For the Leap of Faith team, the final pop-up is another opportunity to turn community generosity into support for children who need it.
“We would love people to visit us on our final day, not only to find a bargain, but to help turn these donated clothes into something truly meaningful for South Australian children,” said Lorelle.
“Even if someone buys only one $1 item, they are showing us, and the children we are doing this for, that our community cares.”
