Learn Pasta From The Master At Carnevale 2011

Learn how to cook pasta from the master at this year’s Carnevale on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 February at the Adelaide Showgrounds.

Leading Adelaide chef and San Remo brand ambassador, Adam Swanson, will conduct a series of pasta master classes over the two days.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to learn how easy it is to cook a restaurant standard dish using pasta at home.

Adam will share his tips on how to prepare quick, easy and elegant pasta meals, as well as how to get adventurous with different pasta shapes.

He will also give recommendations on which pasta shapes work best in different pasta recipes.

The master classes will be held within a full-scale kitchen setting inside the showground’s “Piazza Jubilee” (Jubilee Pavilion).

It will be equipped with an overhead camera and big screen TV, allowing audience members to view Adam’s cooking from all angles.

Quality pasta ingredients will be supplied by Carnevale patron sponsor, San Remo.

The master class session times are as follows:

• Saturday 12 February – 1.30pm, 3.30pm and 6.00pm

• Sunday 13 February –  3.00pm, 5.00pm and 7.00pm

Other highlights of Carnevale include regional food stalls, live entertainment such as dancing and singing, children’s entertainment, traditional mass with choirs, fashion parades and motor shows.

The University of Adelaide’s School of Agriculture, Food and Wine and the Durum Growers Association of South Australia will also form part of the San Remo pasta exhibition.

The University will be promoting its Agricultural Science and Food and Nutrition Science degrees, while the Durum Growers Association will educate visitors on how durum wheat is planted and harvested to grain, particularly for the pasta industry.

Now in its 35th year, the Carnevale festival is a celebration of Italian food, people, culture and tradition. It is the only festival of its type in Australia.

Carnevale will be held at the Adelaide Showgrounds on 12-13 February. Tickets available at the gate. For more information, please visit www.carnevale-adelaide.com
