Live music, dancing and plenty of rock ’n’ roll are coming back to the Fleurieu this October, with an inclusive event designed to make sure everyone can join in.
Rock the Coast will return to Victor Harbor Town Hall on Friday, October 2nd, bringing people living with disability together for a day of music, dancing and community.
Now in its third year, the event was created by Livit Disability Support as a space where people can enjoy live music in a safe, welcoming and accessible environment.
The day will feature Fleurieu party band Galactic Jelly alongside local DJ Adventure Dave, with the pair set to provide the soundtrack as attendees take to the dance floor or simply enjoy the music.
The event has been designed by people living with disability, with accessibility built into the experience from the beginning. Attendees can make use of accessible facilities, a dedicated sensory zone, support staff and sensory fidgets throughout the event.
Livit Regional Manager Alanna Sherrah said, “Rock the Coast brings the joy of live music in an environment where everyone can feel welcome and supported. Whether you love singing, dancing or just listening to music, we would love to see you this October.”
For Alanna, creating that sense of freedom and belonging is at the heart of what Livit does.
“At Livit, we try to remove barriers for people, and creating an environment where people can be themselves and enjoy live music is what Rock the Coast is all about. We can’t wait for the event to come to life at Victor Harbor Town Hall.”
And if the response from previous attendees is anything to go by, the dance floor is likely to be a popular place.
Rock the Coast attendee Rory said he was already looking forward to seeing the event return.
“I like it when people come to rock out hard and I can’t wait to see people at Rock the Coast,” said Rory.
Livit client and music fan Levi also described the event as “pretty rock n roll,” adding that he couldn’t wait to get back on the dance floor at Victor Harbor Town Hall.
With the event now entering its third year, organisers hope Rock the Coast will continue to provide a place where people can enjoy one of the simplest pleasures around, getting together, turning up the music and having a good time.
