Nestled between the Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale, just an hour’s drive from Adelaide, lies Langhorne Creek; a leafy, wine-making town with a big heart.
The South-Eastern region provides a trip off of the beaten track with local beer, amazing wines, and stunning landscapes that all contribute to the culture of Langhorne Creek.
There’s plenty to do. With ample wineries, you can have a wine flight, enjoy a ride on a horse drawn carriage, and even a helicopter ride to check out the scenery. And while you’re there, you can have an exceptional pub meal.
The Bridge Hotel Langhorne Creek is one of the greatest contributors in the area, with the pub establishing themselves over 170 years ago. Which is around the time Langhorne Creek started to grow its first grapes.
See, The Bridge Hotel is like an extension of your living room. It’s warm, cosy, and owners Steve and Michele lead a team of friendly staff that make you feel completely at home.
The open fireplaces and flame heaters make The Bridge Hotel a perfect spot to sit and enjoy a glass red as we enter the colder months.
So, what’s on the menu? There are some seriously epic selections.
The Southern Fried Chicken is served with a creamy ranch dressing and chips. Or if you’re down for a burger, the beef burger is topped with ingredients sourced from Langhorne Creek and surrounds, including bacon, egg, lettuce and cheese, and served with chips.
On Thursdays, it’s all about schnitzels. And these are no ordinary schnitties. For starters, for the seafood lovers, there’s a calamari schnitzel. Yep. You read that right. But it gets a whole lot better. How about you dig into a beef schnitzel, topped with a Bavarian sauerkraut topping?
Or perhaps you’re more of a chicken schnitzel lover? You can pair that one with a cheeseburger topping. I’m talking pickles, ham, tomato sauce and cheese. Stop this right now.
If you’re making a day of it, and heading to the pub for lunch, the $20 fish-and-chips social comes with a pint of house beer, or a glass of house wine and is available between Wednesday and Friday.
The Bridge Hotel is open from 11:30am – 8pm from Wednesday to Saturday, 11:30am – 7pm on Sundays, and 4pm – 7pm on Tuesdays.
You can find The Bridge Hotel at 70 Bridge Rd, Langhorne Creek.
