Kate Meade, the host of the iHeart radio podcast “Women of Influence,” has been on a mission to shine a spotlight on the remarkable stories of women, particularly those whose successes often go unnoticed.

Over the past 6 months, Kate has spearheaded the creation of “The Women of Influence: The Adelaide Edition,” a series dedicated to showcasing the inspiring journeys of South Australian women.

With a commitment to amplifying the voices of women from all walks of life, the podcast has garnered widespread attention, amassing over 800,000 downloads to date.

Featuring guests ranging from household names like Jackie O, Amanda Keller, Mia Freedman, to unsung heroes, “The Women of Influence” serves as a celebration of resilience and achievement.

Some of the South Australian women taking centre stage include Glam Adelaide’s own Kelly Noble, fashion brand Sunset Lover’s founder Melanie Flintoft, Australia’s leading love & relationship coach and celebrity speaker Dr Lurve, international arts festival CEO and artistic director and documentary producer Heather Croall and more.

The genesis of the podcast can be traced back to 2018 when Kate herself was recognised in the Australian Financial Review’s “100 Women of Influence.” It was at this pivotal moment that Kate discovered a wealth of untold stories within her community, stories of women driving change through business, volunteering, technology, and social work.

Determined to give these narratives the platform they deserve, Kate launched the podcast, driven by a desire to share the journeys of women who embody the spirit of resilience and perseverance.

“It is the stories of these remarkable women that drive me. I am always inspired and in awe of what they have achieved often through great hardship. They share a common theme of ‘nevertheless she persisted’,” Kate says.

“It’s an honour to share their stories. It’s an honour to sit and get to know each and every single one of them.”

Beyond the podcast episodes themselves, the initiative has fostered a supportive community through a dedicated Facebook Group. Here, women have the opportunity to nominate and champion each other, creating a space for connection and empowerment.

Through her work with iHeart Radio, Kate is not only telling stories but also shaping a narrative of strength, resilience, and empowerment for generations of women to come.
