12 incredible, unique South Australian gins to try

Here at Glam, we’ve done the hard work for you and compiled a lineup of amazing, one-of-a-kind gins to add to your bar cart!

It’s no secret that Adelaidans are partial to a gin or two, and with a fantastic array of distillers popping up in South Australia’s backyard, the state is making its mark in the gin world.

While you can’t go wrong with a classic Gin and Tonic, there are plenty of unique gins distilled right here in SA, with incredible flavours you’d never imagine. From green ants to oysters and olives – several South Australian gin gurus have thought of it all!

So, here at Glam, we’ve done the hard work for you and compiled a lineup of amazing, one-of-a-kind gins to add to your bar cart:

Green Olive Gin | Full Circle |$89

The flavours of this contemporary Mediterranean gin are drawn directly from the sunlit beauty of the South Australian coastline. Lush green olives, freshly picked leaves from coastal olive trees and flaked sea salt from the Spencer Gulf give rise to this dry, savoury gin.

Subtle, classic notes of citrus, coriander, juniper and angelica root are all added to the pot in distilling and join in the botanical bouquet. However, this is unashamedly, even brashly, a Martini Gin. Whatever your preference – Churchill, Stirred, Dry, Wet, Dirty; and for Bond lovers, it even works superbly in a  Vesper Martini.

If you love Martinis or think you might, this one’s for you.

If you love Coriander leaf, you’ll just love this gin. Think seafood, Asian food and Vietnamese food – a perfect match. For a savoury finish, we like to garnish it with a slice of lime with freshly cracked black pepper.

Dark Series Oyster Shell Gin | Never Never Distilling Co | $75

Oyster Shell Gin uses Kangaroo Island oyster shell, waxflower, Tasmania wakame, coastal daisy bush, saltbush and round mint to create a unique expression of the Australian coastline and built for contemporary seafood pairings.

Fresh sea spray jumps from the glass, bursting with split lime-leaf and fragrant grapefruit zest. The palate expresses the saline and savoury minerality of Kangaroo Island oyster shell and dried Australian wakame.

This gin is built for a martini. With lashings of wax flower and salinity, it scratches the itch of anyone who loves a savoury martini.

For those who love a G&T, it pairs beautifully with Fever Tree Mediterranean Tonic and a lime leaf garnish. It’s a great example of a sophisticated, citrus forward coastal highball.
