Mooka Oysters are delivering their super fresh oysters straight to your door every Friday!

There aren’t many delicacies from the ocean, which can transport you (and your tastebuds) to their point of origin, simply by enjoying the incredible, fresh taste sensation they deliver.

A good oyster can take you there, and thanks to the international restrictions imposed on trade because of COVID-19 (silver linings, and all that), getting your hands on some of our State’s best and freshest, has never actually been easier. Or cheaper.

One new option for those of us in Adelaide are fresh Smoky Bay oysters (some of the world’s best!), delivered to your door for only $14/dozen.

Mooka Oysters, a South Australian family owned and operated business, is offering the unbelievable deal, straight from the waters parallel to the Eyre Island, at Smoky Bay.

Mooka Oysters had to pivot their business’ direction to accommodate for the changes on overseas exports, with convenient door to door deliveries throughout SA and as well as nationwide deliveries.

Mooka Oysters launched from Kenny Bascomb’s vision of offering the cleanest and most sustainable ocean produce, and upon discovering oysters in 2001, the answer to their business ideas became clear.

Since then, the Bascomb family have been involved in the business in every capacity, from walking the water, loading and driving the boats, checking every oyster before sale.

Mooka Oysters’ amazing produce are farmed in one of the most remote and pristine waters in SA in a half-moon shaped bay.

The interesting shape of the bay actually provides Mooka Oyster’s oysters with a huge flow of water which bring through far superior nutrients for them to feed on.

This funnelling effect also creates a saltier flavour as the water flows in from one end and out from the other, instead of being re-circulated like other bays.

The stream of cool, clean water alongside the flat and dry surrounding water means that the quality of their oysters is pretty stellar.

Their oysters can now be purchased from their online store and delivered to Metropolitan Adelaide and Port Lincoln door every Friday.

Your oysters will still be unshucked to preserve the flavour and quality, as the exact water from their harvest will still be within the oyster.

Luckily for us, they’re also selling oyster shucking knives, with plans to extend their online range.

Their have a standout minimum purchase of five dozen, and at $12 per dozen, they’re extremely reasonable and affordable.

Adelaide metro customers can expect deliveries on Fridays, with their oysters harvested out of the water the day before, the cut off for the Friday delivery is 7am Thursday so keep that in mind.

So what do you do when you have your oysters? The team at Mooka Oysters recommend that you either enjoy them once you get them, or freeze them! If stored correctly, they can last for three months.
