With the October long weekend fast approaching, it’s time to solidify your weekend plans and visit Mitolo Wines!

Launching their brand new Al forno lunch this Monday, the McLaren Vale winery is giving South Australians the perfect excuse to indulge one more time before the long weekend comes to a close.

While Mitolo has long situated itself as a go-to spot for fine wine and food when taking a weekend trip to McLaren Vale, the winery will specially open its doors to the public this October 4.

Hosting the Al forno lunch in Little Wolf Osteria, guests can expect a hearty tasting menu, curated from fresh local ingredients and created with sharing in mind, featuring house-made cheese, salumi and of course – pasta!

This special menu’s focus – ‘Cucina Povera’ – dishes from the Mitolo family’s heritage – Monday’s menu will feature a line-up of dishes created with traditional techniques using only the newly built wood oven.

The afternoon is $65 per person, with a delicious children Bimbi menu priced at $40.

Championing the fresh seasonal ingredients pulled from the land, Head Chef Vincenzo La Montagna has created a menu that highlights the unique flavours of the Fleurieu Peninsula.

La Montagna credits his innate culinary talent to his childhood memories at the family table, his skills intertwining with his early learnings of cultural culinary tradition and respect for ingredients. The talented chef gives a gentle nod to his parents, Angelo and Maria, learnings and their love of the land in the creation of his dishes.

If you can’t make it to the Al forno long weekend lunch, there’s no need to worry. The Mitolo cellar door and Little Wolf cellar door will be open across the entirety of the long weekend.

Indulge in the depth of the Paddy’s Row flight, where you will compare Mitolo’s Italian and shiraz varieties with their small-batch series as you marvel at the lush vineyard property. For those wanting to try La Montagna’s culinary skills, Little Wolf will be serving up their mouth-watering pasta, cooked meats and fresh cheeses as well.

Get down to Mitolo Wines and enjoy your long weekend the Little Wolf’s way.
