A new event is bringing gem lovers, fossil hunters and collectors to Port Adelaide this November

The inaugural Outback Sparkle Gem & Mineral Show will bring collectors, jewellers, miners and geological treasures from across Australia to Port Adelaide this November.

Gem lovers, fossil hunters, jewellery fans and collectors, this one’s for you!

This November, Port Adelaide will be transformed for a brand-new event celebrating the country’s fascinating geological treasures.

The inaugural Outback Sparkle Gem & Mineral Show will take over Harts Mill on Saturday, November 7th and Sunday, November 8th, bringing together stallholders, collectors, jewellers, miners and industry representatives from across the country.

Created by regional South Australian businesswoman and Outback Sparkle founder Fiona Scutter, the two-day event aims to become a meeting place for Australia’s gem and mineral community, while giving the wider public the chance to discover the stories behind some of the country’s most incredible natural treasures.

“I wanted to create something that brought the gem and mineral community together, not just from South Australia, but from right across Australia,” said Fiona. “We have such an incredible industry, and there are so many passionate people behind it. This show is about giving them a place to come together.”

Visitors can expect to browse an eclectic collection of gems, minerals, fossils, jewellery and collectables, while meeting the people behind the industry.

There will also be opportunities to learn more about Australia’s mining and mineral heritage, the country’s unique geology and the role the industry continues to play in communities around Australia.

For Fiona, bringing an event of this scale to South Australia is also a continuation of her own journey building a business from regional and remote SA.

The Outback Sparkle founder has continued to pursue opportunities across Australia while advocating for regional women and communities, and is currently a finalist for several awards, including the AusMumpreneur Awards Rural & Remote Business of the Year, Celebrating Women Awards and ALBIA Awards Rising Star.

She says the new event is proof that living remotely doesn’t have to mean thinking small.

“I live and work in remote South Australia, and I’ve always believed that being remote doesn’t mean thinking small,” said Fiona.

“The Outback Sparkle Gem & Mineral Show is a perfect example of that. We’re bringing people from across Australia together in Port Adelaide and creating something that can grow into an important event for the national gem and mineral community.”

With interstate stallholders already set to travel to SA for the inaugural event, the show will offer a chance to discover treasures from across the country while connecting collectors and enthusiasts with businesses and industry members they may not otherwise encounter.

Expressions of interest are currently open for additional stallholders, jewellers, miners, collectors, businesses, organisations and industry representatives wanting to be involved.

Check it all out at Harts Mill, Port Adelaide, from 9:30am to 5pm on November 7th and 8th.
