There are few places where you can enjoy a high tea while watching giraffes stroll by, but from next month, Monarto Safari Resort is turning this wild concept into a reality.
Launching on Saturday, August 15th, the resort’s brand-new Wild Tea experience is putting a twist on traditional high tea in one of South Australia’s most spectacular settings. Held every Saturday inside Kutjera Restaurant & Bar, the experience combines sweet and savoury treats with world-class views across the resort’s Wild Africa precinct, where giraffes, zebras, ostriches, oryx and elands roam.
Created as a fresh way to welcome the warmer months, Wild Tea brings together the best of South Australian produce with flavours inspired by Africa, creating an experience that’s unlike any other in the state.
Designed to welcome the warmer months, the new experience gives guests the chance to enjoy a traditional high tea while giraffes and zebras roam across the Wild Africa precinct just beyond the restaurant.

When indulging in the Wild Tea experience, guests are welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine, with the option to upgrade to Champagne, alongside a pot of the resort’s exclusive Serengé-T blend, created in partnership with South Australian tea specialists T-Bar Teas.
The menu stays true to the timeless traditions of high tea while introducing a few distinctly African influences. Savoury favourites include Cape Malay chicken sandwiches inspired by the iconic South African dish, curried egg, mushroom duxelles, cucumber and fig and brie sandwiches, alongside smoked salmon puffs and crispy bitterballen served with black garlic aioli.
Those with a sweet tooth can finish with house-made scones topped with Chantilly cream and jam, macarons, brownies, mini milk tarts and traditional South African koeksisters, a syrup-soaked braided pastry.
The menu has also been designed with flexibility in mind, with most items able to be prepared gluten-free and dairy-free, alongside a range of vegetarian options. Seasonal produce will also see the menu evolve throughout the year.
While the food is undoubtedly a highlight, it’s the setting that elevates the experience. Kutjera has huge open windows that look out on Monarto Safari Park’s Wild Africa precinct, which is home to giraffes, zebras, ostriches, oryx, elands and more. There’s also a large deck outside the restaurant for even better viewing opportunities.
