Adelaide weather forecast for Monday August 17 and the days ahead

Showers are set to sweep across Adelaide and much of South Australia this week, with the wettest conditions expected through Tuesday and Wednesday.

Adelaide is set for a cool, showery stretch this week, with rain most likely from today through Wednesday before conditions settle into a run of mostly cloudy, mild late-winter days heading into the weekend.

For Adelaide, Monday starts off partly cloudy, but showers are expected to build from late morning as easterly winds swing around to the northeast.

Tuesday looks to be the wettest day of the week for the metro area, with showers increasing through the afternoon and evening and a top of 19 degrees after a morning low of 12.

Wednesday brings another very high chance of showers, most likely in the morning, before they begin to ease later in the day. Adelaide is forecast to reach 18 degrees, though residents in the northern suburbs should keep an eye on the sky, with the chance of an afternoon thunderstorm.

By Thursday, the pattern starts to calm, with just a slight chance of a shower and a cooler top of 17 degrees under partly cloudy skies.

The back half of the week looks quieter, though not completely dry. Friday carries a medium chance of a shower with light winds and another top of 17 degrees.

Saturday stays cloudy with only a slight chance of rain, while Sunday improves a little, turning partly cloudy with just a small chance of a passing shower and a top of 18 degrees.

It’s a fairly settled finish to the week, but Adelaide households will still want a jacket close by, especially through the colder mornings, with overnight lows dipping to between 8 and 10 degrees from Thursday onward.

Across regional South Australia, the most active weather sits further north and east early in the week. Showers, and at times rain, are forecast across the northeast today, spreading southwest into Eyre Peninsula, with a slight chance of showers reaching as far south as Kangaroo Island.

There is also the possibility of thunderstorms in the North East Pastoral and Flinders districts today and again on Tuesday. By Wednesday, showers ease in the southeast before redeveloping in western areas and pushing across the state later in the day, with thunderstorms possible in central and eastern districts.

There are strong wind warning for the South Central Coast.
