Adelaide Youtube Episode Marvel vs. DC (Avengers Battle!) Racks Up Over 1.7 Million Views Overnight

It took just 20 hours for cult online filmmakers, Adelaide’s Philippou brothers, to rack up over one million views of a new episode of their high octane, stunt laden comedy Versus.

The new episode, Marvel vs. DC (Avengers Battle!), which went live on the RackaRacka You Tube Channel and Facebook page on Monday night, pitches the Justice League (Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman) against The Avengers (Hulk, Ironman & Thor) in an epic battle over a bunch of tickets.

To date (10am ACST), the episode has been viewed 1,187,067 times on Facebook and 559,187 times on You Tube. The release of this Versus episode was brought forward to coincide with the release of the new Marvel film, Avengers: Age of Ultron.

It was filmed at the South Australian Film Corporation’s Adelaide Studios along with two further Versus episodes which will be released over the coming months. The subjects of these episodes are being kept under wraps by the Philippou Brothers and producer Julie Byrne.

Versus has been supported by the South Australian Film Corporation and Screen Australia, and produced by local company Triptych Pictures.

South Australian Film Corporation CEO Annabelle Sheehan said the incredible number of views in less than a day demonstrates the power of online channels and their ability to connect innovative filmmakers with large international audiences.

“Facebook, in particular, is becoming even more powerful in its reach and impact as it expands its streaming video services,” said Ms Sheehan.

The successful launch of Marvel vs. DC follows the Philippou brothers most popular Versus video, Harry Potter vs Star Wars, which has clocked up more than 13 million You Tube views and shot them to international fame, including being shown on TV shows such as Jimmy Kimmel, Conan O’Brien, and MTV.
