ANZAC Day Guide 2012

Come out and show support this ANZAC Day 2012 with a wide range of events and ceremonies being held all around the city and suburbs to honor those fallen and those still serving.

 

Adelaide March

The ANZAC Day March will commence at 9.30am on Wednesday 25 April commencing on North Terrace with viewing available along King William Road. The march will concluded at the Cross of Sacrifice which will  host The Cross of Sacrifice Ceremony with His Excellency The Govenor of South Australia.

Once the march and ceremony has concluded food, refreshments, games and other entertainment will be held at the Torrens Parade grounds, open to the public.

Light Horse Memorial Service

Where: Light Horse Memorial, corner of North & East Terraces

When: Wednesday 25 April from 8.00am

 

Dawn Services ANZAC Day 25 April

Where: SA War Memorial, on the corner of North Terrace and Kintore Avenue, Adelaide from 6.15am

Where: The Memorial, Osmond Terrace & The Parade Norwood, from 6.15am.

Where: RSL, Rosetta St, West Croydon from 6.15am

Where: Memorial Gardens, Unley Road, Unley from 6.00am

Where: Memorial Clocktower, Foreshore, Semaphore from 6.15am

Youth Vigils

Where: Adelaide, South Australian War Memorial on the corner of North Terrace and Kintore Avenue.

When: Guard mount at 6pm Tuesday 24 April. Ceremonay at 7pm. Guard Dismount 5.45am

Youth Representatives have createde their own ANZAC tradition. Aged between 13 and 18, representatives conduct a formal holding ceremony where the guard step down as the Dawn Service begins.

Ambassadors Hotel

Where: Ambassadors Hotel, 107 King William Street, Adelaide

When: Wednesday 25 April

Head to the Ambassadors Hotel on King William Street in the city to enjoy either breakfast or lunch.

Breakfast Buffet $19.50 per person includes a large assortment of hot and cold items, organic filtered coffee and a selection of juices and teas.

ANZAC Day Street Party

Where: Union Hotel, Waymouth Street

When: Wednesday 25 April, 10am til late

The Union Hotel are keeping up their tradition hosting a celebration to pay respect to diggers young and old. This year they will be doing it all over again with part proceeds from the day to benefit Legacy Australia. Guests will be encouraged to get invovled with the Legacy Sausage Sizzle with traditional Aussie pies, pasties and more. There will be a range of live entertainment from local bands with Waymouth Street closed until 10pm.

ANZAC Day Picnic & Two-Up

Where: Sinclair's Gully Wines

When: Wednesday 25 April 12.00pm to 4.00pm

Cost: Wine from $5 a glass/ $20 a bottle.
