Batik Air Malaysia launches direct flights between Adelaide and Kuala Lumpur

Batik Air Malaysia’s inaugural non-stop service between Kuala Lumpur and Adelaide, has made its highly anticipated touchdown in Adelaide this morning, just in time for the South Australian school holidays.

The first flight arrived at 7:50 am and is scheduled to depart at 8:40 am.

Batik Air, Malaysia (formerly known as Malindo Air) will operate three weekly flights from Kuala Lumpur to Adelaide on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. The return flights from Adelaide to Kuala Lumpur are scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Adelaide Airport Managing Director, Brenton Cox, said Batik Air, Malaysia’s arrival would help continue to grow the South Australian market, benefiting business, tourism and the international student sector.

“Malaysia is a strong long term market for travel to and from Adelaide. It’s fantastic news to welcome another airline flying between our two great cities and links Adelaide into Asia through Batik’s considerable network,” Mr Cox said.

“Batik Air, Malaysia offers connections through Kuala Lumpur across its network for travellers wanting to continue to other destinations throughout South East Asia, China, Japan and India. Batik is a full-service airline so baggage is included in the fare.

“The airline previously operated a one-stop service via Bali under its previous Malindo Air banner, but this is the first time it has offered a non-stop service between Adelaide and Kuala Lumpur.”

While Batik Air, Malaysia previously operated a one-stop service via Bali under its previous name, Malindo Air, this marks the first time they offer a non-stop service directly between Adelaide and Kuala Lumpur.

Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, Group Strategy Director for Batik Air & Lion Air Group said: ”We are pleased to witness great demand to Adelaide as we start the flight service and we must say that Adelaide is a popular destination among Asians, not just for leisure and tourism, but also for studying and visiting family and friends. This is indeed a timely boost to tourism in Australia.

“On the other hand, the passengers from Adelaide, Australia have option to fly to Kuala Lumpur with Batik Air and access to network connectivity such as to ASEAN destinations, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand, Indonesia, China, Japan, Korea and many more.”

Flight schedules for the Kuala Lumpur to Adelaide route are as follows:

  • Departure from Kuala Lumpur (KUL) at 23:10
  • Arrival in Adelaide (ADL) at 07:50 the next day

  • Departure from Adelaide (ADL) at 08:40
  • Arrival in Kuala Lumpur (KUL) at 14:55
