Dare we say that while strawberry jam isn’t the first thing we reach for, nor is it what we order when we’re eating breakfast in or out – it has never failed us.
Well, it’s time we gave strawberry jam the attention it deserves, and what better time to do so as an SA local has been ordained as the best supermarket strawberry jam in the country.
CHOICE, Australia’s leading consumer advocacy organisation has deemed the Beerenberg Australian Strawberry Jam as the peak of strawberry jam-ness in the country.
Comparing it to the competitive products of major fave, Aldi Grandessa Signature Strawberry Premium Jam, the French made Bonne Maman Strawberry Conserve, and the budget essential Woolworths Essentials Strawberry Jam, the race to best was tight.
CHOICE gave Beerenberg a 75% and said that it’s ” 51% strawberries, and contains 99% Australian ingredients.”
“Glossy, natural colour. Beautiful, strawberry/lemon aroma. Sweet strawberry flavour with some acidity. Lots of seeds.”
Of course we’re only a little bit smug since Beerenberg is an SA product from Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills.
