A Brighton cafe is bringing locals together through a community-focused run club that puts connection ahead of competition, with another big morning of running, coffee and giveaways planned for November.
Doozy Deli, on Jetty Road in Brighton, launched its run club as an extension of the cafe’s community-first approach, creating a space where people of all abilities and fitness levels can come together without the pressure often associated with traditional running groups.
The weekly club meets every Thursday at 6am at Brighton Jetty, before runners head back to Doozy for discounted coffees and a chance to get to know one another. As the weather warms up, participants are also encouraged to take a post-run dip in the ocean, making for a refreshing start to the day.

For founder Jess Mann, the idea is about making running feel more accessible while building genuine connections among locals.
“Honestly, the response to our first run club was absolutely incredible – more than I could have ever dreamed of,” she shared. “Seeing around 130 people come together, of all paces and all abilities, was so special and a real reflection of the community we’ve built. We really wanted to create something that felt warm and welcoming to everyone regardless of their pace and ability.”
The club has also become a personal journey for Jess, who admitted she had never even run 5km before starting Doozy Run Club.
“Now, Thursday mornings are my favourite day of the week. It’s become so much more than running – it’s about meeting new people, showing up as you are and creating a space where everyone feels welcome and supported.”

The next event will see Doozy team up with Revl Training Brighton on Sunday, November 22nd.
The ticketed morning will bring together running, coffee and local businesses, with tickets including a Doozy coffee, matcha or fresh juice, a cinnamon scroll, and entry into the day’s giveaways and raffles.
Organisers are also planning to bring together a range of Adelaide-based businesses, with participating brands to be announced closer to the event. Tickets are expected to launch next week.
Since the opening of Doozy, Jess has embraced local collaborations and pop-up events, including post-run coffee catch-ups by the beachfront. For her, the goal remains simply to create a space where people can turn up as they are, meet someone new and enjoy being part of something local.

“We’re so excited to bring everyone together again on November 22nd! We just want to take the intimidation out of traditional run clubs and focus on good people, good energy and a whole lot of community.”
So if you’re a seasoned runner or someone who has been thinking about giving it a go, Doozy’s weekly meet-up offers a relaxed way to get moving, meet locals and finish the morning with a coffee by the coast.
