One of Australia’s most successful hip hop groups has been honoured in the heart of Adelaide, with Hilltop Hoods Lane officially unveiled alongside two striking new murals celebrating the band’s career.
The former Clubhouse Lane, located off Hindley Street, has been renamed in recognition of the Adelaide Hills-raised trio, who have gone from performing at local venues as teenagers to becoming some of the biggest names in Australian music.
Unveiled on Thursday, October 15, the laneway features two large-scale murals by renowned Adelaide street artist Vans the Omega, celebrating the band’s music, achievements and connection to their hometown.
The new addition is the sixth stop on the City of Adelaide’s City of Music Laneways trail, joining tributes to other South Australian music icons including Sia Furler, Cold Chisel, No Fixed Address, Paul Kelly and The Angels.
For Hilltop Hoods members Suffa, Pressure and DJ Debris, the recognition holds particular significance, with the laneway located just a short walk from some of the venues where they began performing three decades ago.

“It’s also somewhat surreal,” Pressure said.
“We paid our dues performing in and around these streets, teenage me would have never dreamed one of them would be named after us.”
Formed in Adelaide’s southern foothills in the 1990s, Hilltop Hoods helped introduce Australian hip hop to mainstream audiences, building a career that has included international tours, sold-out arenas and some of the country’s most recognisable songs.
Their catalogue includes The Nosebleed Section, Cosby Sweater, 1955, I Love It and Chase That Feeling, alongside tracks paying tribute to their hometown, including City of Light.
The group has achieved seven number-one ARIA albums, including their 2025 release Fall From The Light, setting a record for the most chart-topping albums by an Australian group. They have also amassed more than two billion streams, 1.1 million album sales and ten ARIA Awards.

Adelaide Lord Mayor Dr Jane Lomax-Smith said the laneway was a fitting tribute to a group that has maintained strong ties to South Australia throughout its international success.
“Despite their global success, they have never forgotten their Adelaide roots. That’s why it’s fabulous to permanently recognise their achievements on the streets of the city – just a short walk from the venues where they started making music three decades ago.”
The murals were created by Vans the Omega, whose work has transformed the laneway into a new public art destination for music fans and visitors to the CBD.
The Adelaide artist said he wanted the artwork to reflect the band’s lasting impact on South Australians and offer fans a place to celebrate the music that has shaped generations.
With the new signage and murals now unveiled, Hilltop Hoods Lane adds another chapter to Adelaide’s music history, permanently recognising three local artists whose careers began just streets away.
