Acclaimed South Australian winery Yangarra Estate Vineyard, have opened a luxurious state-of the-art cellar door, bolstering its position as a premium wine destination in the Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale region.

Featuring floor to ceiling windows overlooking sweeping views of the estates vineyards, unique to the cellar door is its dedicated viewing platform overlooking Yangarra’s extensive collection of ceramic amphorae fermentation vessels as well as a connecting overpass that allows visitors to walk across to the working winery.

Yangarra Estate Chief Winemaker, Peter Fraser, said he hopes the cellar door will provide an elevated wine experience in the region.

“Not only is the cellar door a remarkable space to showcase our wines, the design is true to our ethos, the importance of attention to detail, purity of expression, to produce wine that reflects an authentic sense of place.

“It provides guests with the opportunity to take part in unique experiences beyond being immersed in the vineyard itself, by what the offering shares with visitors about the winemaking process and maturation of the wine.

“In terms of design, as a certified organic and biodynamically farmed vineyard, it was of utmost importance that the new cellar door was reflective of this. We assembled a team of architects, builders, and interior designers who understood our philosophy and have done an exceptional job bringing our vision to life,” said Fraser.

The development is part of ongoing investment into the vineyards and winery on behalf of parent company Jackson Family Wines, following increasing recognition and accolades received by Yangarra both within Australia and Internationally.

South Australian based JBG Architects, Pascale Construction, and Georgie Shepherd Interior Design (GSiD), were engaged for the project which incorporates bespoke features that play homage to the brand.

“From the very beginning we formed strong relationships with the Yangarra team to gain a deep understanding of their vision for the project as well as their passion for premium quality, surrounds and experiences,” said Architect, Barry Bradbrook.

“The design represents a journey of discovery, with a series of sophisticated spaces crafted from natural materials inspired by the Yangarra Estate landscape.”

One unique space within the new Yangarra cellar door is the private tasting room dedicated to the wines of Hickinbotham Clarendon Vineyards; produced by Peter Fraser and Napa Valley winemaker, Chris Carpenter.

Located on the ground-floor, overlooking the barrel and feature ferment room, the Hickinbotham tasting room offers an exclusive tasting experience that is ideal for visitors seeking to gain a deeper understanding of the geology, vineyards and production methods of this unique vineyard estate located in the Clarendon district.

Devoted to southern Rhône varieties, Yangarra Estate wines are produced solely from the estate, where bush-vine Grenache is the keystone variety. The High Sands Grenache is the pinnacle wine in the portfolio, sourced from a 1.7-hectare block, planted in 1946, that sits at the highest elevation on the vineyard.

The new Yangarra Estate cellar door is officially open, with a series of exclusive and immersive wine experiences on offer that are sure to excite wine enthusiasts who visit.
