Calling Adelaide’s creative mob!
The beautifully revamped Henley Square is looking to upgrade yet again, but this time by adding a massive piece of art on Stella’s at Henley Beach.
Jetscope Pty Ltd and Di Ciocco Investments Pty Ltd in partnership with the City of Charles Sturt are seeking to commission a South Australian based professional practising artist to design and apply a mural to Stella’s northern wall – and they have until Monday the 18th of April to apply.
Stella Restaurant is situated in a circa 1880s building on the foreshore at Henley Beach, but the wall being proposed as the ‘canvas’ for this work is colourbond, which will serve as a challenge for the artist commissioned. The exciting thing about the location however, is that it wraps around a new northern entry to the restaurant, and the proposed mural would be an entry statement to the revitalised $8.4m square. The work will be highly visible from Seaview Road, the carpark and foreshore and would ultimately become a landmark for the area.
With so many incredible works popping up around Adelaide, including the most recent ‘Bowie’ mural by Lisa King on The Maid in Stepney, the problem of the city’s less attractive walls is being solved, one building at a time.
Stella’s will ultimately become the second street art drawcard in Henley Square, with newly opened restaurant and bar MALOBO, already commissioning their inside walls with works from Brad Eastman and Vans the Omega.
