Fernfield Wines is matching artisan chocolate with wine in an effort to promote their products, with COVID-19 restrictions meaning they can’t reopen their cellar door.
This family-owned, award-winning Eden Valley winery is helmed by husband and wife team Bec and Scott Barr, with the two managing everything from the vines, to the winemaking process, to bottling and packaging, and, in ordinary times, meeting customers at the cellar door.
Fernfield Wines is the epitome of boutique, producing less than 10,000 bottles a year, all of which are sold directly to customers.
The Barrs have been unable to reopen the cellar door, as the 1850s historical cottage it is housed in is too small to meet social distancing requirements.

Thus, a new wine subscription was born.
Experience Eden includes Fernfield’s boutique wines and treats, as well as tasting notes and behind-the-scenes info.
The first package is the ‘Winter Package’ and encompasses four bottles of wine and four blocks of chocolate, made to specifically match each wine.
The chocolate has been developed over years, crafted from the rare and decadent Criollo cacao bean, specifically chosen for its low content of astringent tannins, allowing the creation of a high cacao content chocolate that is smooth and complex.

Bec Barr won the inaugural Australian Woman in Wine Cellar Door Person of the Year award in 2016, and the winery won the award for 2019 Gourmet Wine Traveller Eden Valley Small Cellar Door.
The packages are $129 three-monthly (16 bottles a year), or $135 for six-monthly (8 bottles a year), with free postage to capital cities and subsidised postage to country areas.
