Situated in the bones of an 1854 small pug church is Samson Tall Winery, a rapidly emerging wine maker in South Australia’s famous McLaren Vale wine region.

The brainchild of Paul Wilson and Heather Budich, Samson Tall is the passionate and community-driven winery that prides themselves for their locally-sourced grapes, and stunningly lush vineyard.

Showcasing a historically and architecturally rich cellar door, the winery is the perfect spot to spend your spring afternoons, with South Australia’s pristine warmer weather fast approaching.

Featuring an absolutely stunning interior, lined with detailed vintage furniture and upholstery- the cellar door offers a warm and intimate spot to sit down and admire the locally sourced artwork that lines the walls.

The winery, which was once home to the old Bethany Chapel, provides an authentic ambience to both the building and surrounding gardens.

Introducing an impressive wine list, Samson Tall features a 2017 Tempranillo, 2019 Grenache, 2019 Shiraz, 2021 Grenache Rose, and 2021 Cinsault Mataro Rose, meaning there’s a succulent option for every taste and preference.

With a glass in hand, patrons are encouraged to showcase their skills on the free-for-all piano, which is one of Samson Tall’s most pinnacle and enjoyable aspects. While you might not draw a crowd with your performance, the winery’s cellar door dog, Miller, will be sure to admire your attempt at musical greatness.

For those that are interested in the rich history of the property, visitors can find the cemetery of the original landowners behind the impressive hand-built chapel. Winery staff are also happy to share their wealth of knowledge with the community, and the memorable story behind ‘Samson Tall’s’ name is certainly not one to miss,

Samson Tall Winery is quickly becoming one of the Fleurieu Peninsula’s top wineries, and for good reason. Their driving passion and warmth within the McLaren Vales wine community is the cherry-on-top factor that complements their breathtaking cellar-door and vineyard.

Samson Tall Winery can be found at 219 Strout Rd, McLaren Vale
