American actress Jessica Alba made a stunning appearance at the White House in a custom couture gown designed by South Australian fashion house Paolo Sebastian.

“We are excited and honoured to have worked on this custom piece for Jessica Alba,” Founder Paul Vasileff says. “Creating a gown that reflects her elegance and strength was a rewarding experience for us.” 

The gown took over 120 hours of hand sewing to complete, showcasing Paolo Sebastian’s exceptional craftsmanship. It features a stunning French Chantilly lace draped design, with a sheer corseted bodice, embellished with hand draping and godets.

The unique piece was reimagined in noir from the 2023-24 Autumn/Winter collection, titled Luminary. Paolo Sebastian shared a reel on Instagram showcasing the artistry and process behind the creation of Jessica’s gown (watch it here).

Founded by Paul Vasileff in 2011 and based in Adelaide, Paolo Sebastian’s designs are described as luxurious, elegant and graceful. The brand is renowned for its intricate detailing and romantic aesthetic, drawing inspiration from fairytales, art, and architecture. Collections often feature delicate lace, embroidered fabrics, and flowing silhouettes.

The label has dressed many celebrities before, including Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld, Heidi Klum, Sydney Sweeney, Adut Akech, and Anya Taylor-Joy. Paolo Sebastian continues to create dreamy and ethereal pieces that stun the fashion world, as seen by the gown created for American actress, Jessica Alba.
