South Australia’s Royal Flying Doctor Service will find themselves $100,000 richer following Kangaroo Island Racing Club’s win in the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour National Sweep.

South Australia’s Royal Flying Doctor Service will find themselves $100,000 richer following Kangaroo Island Racing Club’s win in the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour National Sweep.

The racing club won $50,000 in Tuesday’s sweep having drawn cup winner, Twilight Payment and said they would be donating to the service.

Twilight Payment’s owner, Lloyd Williams, has since announced will be matching Kangaroo Island Racing Club’s $50,000 donation to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Kangaroo Island Racing Club said in a post on Facebook, Williams will be matching the club’s $50,000 donation, resulting in a total $100,000 donation for the Royal Flying Doctor SA.

The Victorian Racing Club gave bushfire-affected towns the chance to win the national sweep by drawing one of the Cup’s race barriers.

Bushfires destroyed more than 200,000 hectares of Kangaroo Island last summer.

The Royal Flying Doctor arrives on Kangaroo Island at least three times a week and provides vital medical services for its population of over 4,500.
