Le Soir Fashion Parade at The HWY

Le-Soir for reviewThis months Le Soir fashion parade at The Highway on Thursday the 1st April featured winter fashion from Love Affair, Rewind Recycled Fashions and Link 2 Link. The parade was a great opportunity to see just what Adelaide has to offer in the way of fashion and get clued up on the latest trends.

Love Affair kicked off the parade with a moody winter collection incorporating lots of all black ensembles as well as pops of colour including deep purple, mustard, khaki and grey. Bare legs were on show as long sleeved mini dresses were the order of the day. Animal print, leather and lace were also standout trends. Black lace was used to make cut-out panels in skin-tight dresses more modest while white lace was paired with white wash distressed denim and tan accessories, perfect for those Adelaide winter days when the sun is peeking through the clouds. Love Affair proved that leggings are not going anywhere this season; however, instead of being used for warmth and comfort they are now a statement piece in themselves.

With cut outs running down the outer seam of each leg and strategically placed metal hardware in the form of studs, statement leggings are a sure-fire way to be ahead of the fashion pack this winter. Fashion stylist Jamie Lee teamed them with oversized check shirts in melancholy grey and army-green military inspired silk shirts. Motorcycle jackets were proven to still be huge as well as the over-the-knee leather boot.

Rewind was next up to showcase their latest pieces on the catwalk reinforcing what we already know; vintage is so chic right now. Hem lengths were a longer and more conservative below the knee, and silhouettes were a celebration of the female form; tight to the waist and cinched with a belt before flowing out into an A-line. Floral patterns were shown to be making the transition from summer to winter, brightening up ones wardrobe for chilly days with a palette of bold rainbow hues on a black base.

Polka dots were also making a comeback from the depths of Grandma’s closet, as was stripes. The second half of the collection took a darker and sexier turn, with more leg on show and lots of black. Glitz and glamour was the theme with shimmery, metallic long line cardigans in gold and silver over classic black ensembles. Leather leggings and jackets, fur cover ups and tassels also featured as Rewind took us to the new and improved past.

was last up with their collection which consisted of lots of tie dye, cut outs, frills, leather and foolproof neutral shades like khaki, beige, black and white. This palette was accented with metallic gold and panel detailing. Continuing on with the statement leggings featured by Love Affair, Link 2 Link too had their own versions with embossed black animal print, sequins, ruching (a la Sass and Bide’s black rats) and slits all over. Some of the designs also evoked a country feel with fringing and a camel hued vest. Not quite floor-scraping cardigans were seen as were leotards and plenty of jewellery to liven things up. Not a bright hue was in sight, making the collection perfect for those cold rainy days and nights. All the pieces featured were versatile and had the potential to suit everyone’s individual style.

The clothes were modelled by the gorgeous girls from Pride Models and styled by Jamie Lee.
