New sites mean more attendees for the 2023 Riverland Camp Oven Festival

Due to popular demand, the Renmark festival will return for 2023 with 31 new sites set to be opened meaning more people can attend.

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of pulling up to a campsite, setting up and settling in for a night or two of nothing but nature. What would be an issue in every day life is turned into a fun activity and cooking with no modern kitchen equipment is just one of them.

The coveted Riverland Camp Oven Festival Renmark was held earlier this month and it received great reviews from all those lucky enough to secure a spot at the event.

With demand outweighing availability again in 2022, the event host Riverbend Caravan Park Renmark is vowing to bring the event back in 2023 but BIGGER!

Edwards Group CEO, Stephen Edwards, said that now the event had passed for another year, they could start implementing plans at the Park that would allow for increased attendance at next year’s event.

“31 grassed Powered Sites have been growing over the last few months that will be ready for caravanners & campers by the 2023 Riverland Camp Oven Festival,” Mr Edwards said.

“These sites will also allow for a larger event arena for the Cook Off entrants & Festival contributors,” he said.

Event founders, Catherine and Brett Hein said each year they have been able to continually grow the event to meet its guests’ expectations with the support of more contributors.

“This year, the Rotary Club Renmark came on board to offer food throughout the day, and with their running costs also being covered by one of our contributors, Hoods Agrimotive, they were able to purely fundraise for the Royal Flying Doctors Service,” they said.

“With so many people keen to get involved but missing out due to site limitations, the extra capacity at next year’s event can only improve the experience by welcoming more to attend.”

While the new sites aren’t completed yet, those keen to secure a place in the 2023 Camp Cook Off can book from today with event details being revealed next year.

New-comers to this year’s event, Jade & David Myers, said how welcoming everyone was, from the hosts and judges to the spectators and even other contestants.

“People came by to ask what we were cooking and encouraged us to enter the competition even though we were newish to camp oven cooking and were only there to give it a go this year,” they said.

“Our miniature camp ovens made quite an impression and people were genuinely saddened to find out our crème brulée was a flop and there wasn’t any to try.”

“It seemed everyone had a camp oven story of failure and success, though, with the resounding message being just enjoy the cooking process & keep on trying cause success will come.”
