Port Pirie’s famed French Hot Bread Shop is opening a new café in Unley

Fusion Café Bakery is Unley Road’s latest eatery, championing a fusion of Australian and Asian cuisine.

Unley Road is about to welcome a new fusion café championing Asian and Australian cuisine, named Fusion Café Bakery.

For the last twenty years, French Hot Bread Shop has been giving the people of Port Pirie an assortment of bakery goods, as well as some classic Asian dishes, and the famed café is about to set up shop on Unley Road.

Fusion Cafe Bakery will be similar to the Nguyen family’s Port Pirie café, but on a more “refined level,” says son, Simon Nguyen.

“My parents opened the Bakery in Port Pirie twenty years ago, and this new café will be similar but with a modern twist,” Simon explains.

At Fusion Café Bakery, guests can expect an awe-inspiring selection of breakfast and lunch dishes.

The Café will serve bakery favourites, as well some Vietnamese dishes such as Bahn Mi, coffee, treats, and light meals.

“Our family has always been passionate about food, and we’ve bonded over Vietnamese and Aussie cuisine,” he continues.

All the bakery items will be baked fresh in-store daily by Simon’s dad.

“He’s been doing it for twenty years. He used to get up at 2am in the morning to bake everything from scratch. Everything that Port Pirie got was all made fresh in the morning.

“Dad is currently experimenting with the new menu and is having a lot of fun making new dishes,” Simon explains.

The fit-out of the new eatery has a modern, elegant vibe, in line with Fusion Café Bakery’s sleek new logo.

Fusion Café Bakery will be open for dine-in and takeaway Monday to Saturday from 6am – 5pm, closing a little earlier on Saturdays.

Simon and his family are hoping to have the café opened in the coming weeks.

Fusion Café Bakery is set to open on Wednesday 28 October.
