Racing’s Elite Take Centre Stage At Morphetville During May

Some of Australia’s best thoroughbred racehorses, trainers and jockeys will light-up Morphettville Racecourse in May for the UBET Adelaide Racing Carnival.

759_012Some of Australia’s best thoroughbred racehorses, trainers and jockeys will light-up Morphettville Racecourse in May for the UBET Adelaide Racing Carnival.

Featuring four Group 1 races, more than $3 million in prize money and a host of off-track entertainment and hospitality, the UBET Adelaide Racing Carnival at Morphettville will be the place to be in Adelaide during autumn.

Fresh from the ICC World Cup Cricket victory, Australian cricket coach Darren Lehmann will be a special guest in the Champions Balcony lunch on Oaks Day on Saturday 2 May. Whilst on Goodwood Day on Saturday 16 May, Black Caviar’s trainer Peter Moody will join Joe Janiak, the trainer of Takeover Target, as special guests in the Champions Balcony Luncheon, with their horses arguably the greatest ever winners of the Goodwood, before going on to then claim victories at historic Royal Ascot in the United Kingdom.

The Starting Gate, a new pop-up venue launched at this year’s Adelaide Cup, is back for the UBET Adelaide Racing Carnival and will be the place to be seen for the city’s A-List.

The statewide search for South Australia’s most stylish racegoer will continue at Morphettville on Oaks Day with a qualifying heat of the Fashion at The Races competition. The winner on the day will progress through to the Fashion at The Races State Final to be held the following week at Morphettville on Derby Day.

General admission tickets are $15 for adults, $7 for concession and children 18 and under are free. The Motor Accident Commission (MAC) is offering all South Australian Jockey Club members and pre-purchased ticket holders free public transport on all Adelaide Metro networks, to and from Morphettville.

2015 UBET ADELAIDE RACING CARNIVAL

Oaks Day – Saturday, 2 May 2015

Traditionally known as ladies day, Oaks Day is an exciting day of racing action with two Group 1 races and more than $1 million in prizemoney on offer at Morphettville. Off-the-track, the search for South Australia’s most fashionable racegoer is on with a qualifying heat of Fashion at The Races. Australian cricket coach Darren Lehmann and media personalities Mark Ricciuto and Chris Dittmar will be the special guests talking all things racing, cricket and football, in the Champions Balcony Luncheon.

Derby Day – Saturday, 9 May 2015

A race day steeped in tradition, black and white will take centre stage at Morphettville on Derby Day with the feature event being the $500,000 Group 1 South Australian Derby. South Australia’s fashion elite will be showcasing their winning looks at the State Final of the 2014/2015 Fashion at The Races. The day will also feature a family zone from 12 – 5pm featuring free children’s amusements including face painting and bouncy castles.

Goodwood Day – Saturday, 16 May 2015

The racing carnival concludes when who’s who of Australian racing descend upon Morphettville for Goodwood Day, to compete on one of South Australia’s richest days of racing, with more than $1 million in prizemoney on offer. Black Caviar’s trainer Peter Moody and Takeover Target’s trainer Joe Janiak will be special guests in the Champions Balcony Luncheon.
