Sashi Hits The Streets With Live Cooking Demos For Fringe

Witness Sashi himself cooking up ‘dosa’ to be served fresh off a traditional Singaporean push-cart!

We know Sashi Cheliah for his record win on season ten of MasterChef in 2018, but now Sashi is set to spoil Adelaide foodies with exclusive live cooking demos right on his restaurant’s doorstep this February during the first half of the Fringe Festival.

On Friday 21 February and Friday 28 February, you can witness Sashi himself cook up ‘dosa’ to be served fresh off a traditional Singaporean push-cart right in front of GAJA by Sashi.

The dosa, which is a popular South Indian style savoury pancake, will be available for purchase plain or with fresh chutney, or you can try the masala dosa with potato stuffing, sambar and two chutneys for some ultimate flavour.

Get yourself a plain dosa with chutneys and sambar for $11 or a masala dosa with chutneys and sambar for $14.

Ensuring that everyone gets to try some fresh dosa, Sashi’s live dosa demos will be happening twice a day at 12pm–2pm during lunch time and 6pm–8pm in the evening, where customers can be lucky enough to eat straight off the cart of the MasterChef winner.

To compliment Sashi’s live cooking of fresh dosa, for a limited time there will also be a special chai kind of available. This is unlike any chai you have ever seen before, with an elaborate display a part of its preparation.

Those who are out in the CBD or near Pirie Street are encouraged to come by the restaurant during these times and grab some authentic dosa and chai to have on the go, whether it’s on their lunch break or on the way to a Fringe show.

“We are all about giving customers a different experience with different flavours at GAJA By Sashi, which is why I want to introduce an authentic South Indian classic like dosa and chai,” says Sashi

“The cooking station that will be set up at my push-cart out the front of GAJA By Sashi will give customers a chance to see for themselves how the dish is prepared. Hot and crispy dosa with sambar and chutney paired with our home-made chai is a match made in heaven.”

In addition to the live dosa demos happening during the two Fridays of Fringe Festival in February, GAJA by Sashi are offering a complimentary house wine or tap beer with any main meal to those who show their Fringe ticket to staff during lunch or dinner from 15 February until 1 March, between Monday to Friday.

GAJA by Sashi is located at 4/86 Pirie Street, Adelaide and you can explore the menu, book a reservation and more at https://www.gajabysashi.com/ or by calling the restaurant on (08) 7073 9867.
