Title Town Following Golden Era

The Adelaide 36ers will be releasing the DVD, ‘Title Town’ at the iiNet NBL Community Round on Friday 24 February.

‘Title Town’ takes a look at the history of the Adelaide 36ers in the 1990’s and follows on from the end of ‘The Golden Era’ which covered the history of the club in the 1980’s.

Produced and edited by Lennon Cooper, this DVD is a culmination of more than 1,000 hours of editing and interviews with the past greats including Darryl Pearce, Mark Davis, Rupert Sapwell and Brett Maher as well as Boti Nagy, The Advertiser’s Basketball Writer.

Adelaide 36ers CEO Leeanne Grantham says that it is important to preserve the history of the club.

“With so many ownership and management changes over the years, this is the perfect way to see the major milestones for the club,” “Winning the back to back championship was an amazing feat by the club and is something that the club aspires to achieve again,”

“I would like to thank the NBL who agreed to let us use the game footage from this time.”

Lennon Cooper said that he wants 36ers fans to relive this period with fond memories, and appreciate these past players for what they have done, not only for basketball, but for South Australia as whole.

“The process involved me sitting down and taking notes on over 200 games worth of highlights from the 1990's and then breaking down exactly how the decade unfolded,”

“After penning about 600 pages of research, I interviewed over a dozen people from that period and got them to tell me in their own words what the 90s was like, and how it unfolded from their perspective.”

Former Adelaide 36ers captain and legend of the game Brett Maher said that it was wonderful to have the history of the club from the player’s perspective on DVD.

“Fans see the club from a player’s perspective which is very engaging, as the team had some interesting characters and stories throughout the 1990’s.”

Chairman of the boards Mark Davis said that he enjoyed the experience of telling the stories of the club and what went on in the change room.

“Telling stories from the 1990’s, was a great way to reminisce, but I still had to say them in PG (Parental Guidance).” he laughed.

The DVD is available to pre-order online at www.adelaide36ers.com from today and can be purchased on game days at the merchandise booth for $30 from Friday 24 February.

There is also a special DVD bundle pack of ‘The Golden Era’ and ‘Title Town’ DVDs for $50. If the DVD sells out, orders will take a maximum of 14 working days to fill.
