A $30m shopping centre is headed to Lightsview

Drakes Supermarkets is the largest independent grocery retailer in Australia, with over 50 stores and specialises in supermarket retailing.

Drakes Supermarkets are coming to Lightsview and we’re seriously excited.

South Australian-owned Drakes Supermarkets are set to open a new location in the Lightsview Shopping Centre in 2023.

The $30m shopping centre, anchored by Drakes, will cap off the development of one of Adelaide’s largest master-planned suburbs.

Drakes Supermarkets is the largest independent grocery retailer in Australia and specialises in supermarket retailing. Operating in over 50 stores across South Australia and Queensland, the company now has an annual turnover in excess of $1 billion and employs over 5,500 staff nationally.

Following extensive renovations and expansion, Drakes are set to bring a new supermarket experience to over 5000 residents in Adelaide’s northeast.

The 3800 sqm centre on the corner of Folland Ave and Fosters Rd, Lightsview, which will also feature a 103-space childcare centre and eight specialty shops, is expected to generate up to 150 jobs when completed.

SA firm Lofty Property Group will develop the centre which will be the final commercial piece in the 100ha Lightsview development which began in 2006 and has grown to include 2000 homes and more than 5000 residents.

It will be built opposite the existing Northgate Shopping Centre, which includes a Woolworths’ supermarket.

The announcement brings great excitement to locals as Drakes Supermarkets are renowned for its excellent produce, fantastic pricing and outstanding service.
