A McLaren Vale shiraz that beat more than 100 competitors within the shiraz category to position it one of the best in the world, is now getting its own victory lap, with Beresford Estate hosting a one-day Shiraz Soirée this June.
The Beresford 2023 Classic Shiraz recently took out the International Syrah Trophy at the 2026 International Wine Challenge in the UK, receiving 97 points and earning four trophies in total. Now, the winery is inviting guests to taste the award-winning drop alongside every shiraz currently available in the Beresford range.
On Saturday June 27, Beresford Estate will host Shiraz Soirée, an afternoon dedicated to rich reds, vineyard views, roaming canapés, live acoustic music and one very well-earned glass raise.
Set at the estate’s architecturally modern Tasting Pavilion, the event is shaping up to be the kind of winter afternoon that makes you want to cancel everything else. Think McLaren Vale vines stretching out around you, a glass of award-winning shiraz in hand, and acoustic duo Raff & Maisie setting the pace for a relaxed afternoon of wine, food and celebration.
If the weather plays nice, the music and tasting stations will spill out onto the lawn, making the most of the pavilion’s views and open-air setting. If winter decides it wants to turn up the rain, the celebration will move inside the intimate Tasting Pavilion, where the fire will be lit and the afternoon will take on a cosy, relaxed glow.
What’s even better is ticket holders will get to take home a bottle of the award-winning shiraz, and we won’t blame anyone if they’re not up for sharing.
Did we mention that the drop is pretty much sold out and this is the last opportunity to grab a bottle with the last of the stock Beresford has kept?
So if you were looking for a sign to enjoy a day out in the stunning wine region and be one of the last to taste the shiraz, this is it.

The 2023 drop is the kind of red that shows why McLaren Vale has such a strong reputation for shiraz. It’s rich without weighing you down, with flavours of blueberry, plum, red cherry and gentle spice, alongside hints of vanilla, mint and eucalyptus.
On the nose, expect bright berry fruit and a soft floral lift, while the palate brings a smooth but structured feel. The wine is made using grapes picked for both colour and flavour, before being fermented, gently pressed and matured in French and American oak.
Head winemaker at Beresford Estate Wines, Natalie Cleghorn, said she was beyond proud of the wine, after the amazing win.
“We’re very excited that our shiraz has done so well on the world stage,” she said.
“For our wine to be as successful as it has been, it means a lot to the team and shows that our vineyards are strong.
“McLaren Vale is a wonderful place to grow grapes, and I would encourage everyone to head to our cellar door as well as the others there!”

The afternoon will also include roaming canapés designed to pair with shiraz, with the final food selection still being carefully curated by the team. Guests can expect a cocktail-style experience, with bites moving through the space as tastings continue throughout the afternoon.
It’s the kind of event made for those who want to do more than simply taste a great wine. This is a chance to hear the story behind the bottle, explore Beresford’s current shiraz portfolio, settle into one of McLaren Vale’s most beautiful cellar door settings and toast a South Australian wine that has just been recognised as one of the best of its kind in the world.
