A piece of paradise to be rebuilt this year

After the disastrous siege that was the 2019 Kangaroo Island bushfires, Tammar Ridge is finally being rebuilt and is set to welcome guests in November.

A Snellings Beach mainstay, Tammar Ridge was the envy of every traveller that decided on a remote getaway. They were a destination in themselves. Patrons would convince themselves of a trip to Kangaroo Island just so they could stay in such luxury.

The name derives from the resident wallabies. It is set upon 35 acres of fields and native sugar gum stands teeming with wallabies, kangaroos, echidnas and the occasional koala.

Tammar Ridge boasts lovely bush walks and uninterrupted views along the North Coast, overlooking Snelling Beach, Middle River and horizon views of Yorke Peninsula.

Snelling Beach is no stranger to activities like hiking, swimming, surfing and fishing. It’s also perfect for winding down and relaxing with a picnic overlooking the water.

The new house is designed by Mark Reu from Basecamp Design.

The design is set to take in the 360 views from the ridge-top with 2.7 metre tall aluminium windows, large verandahs north and south and a huge undercover outdoor entertainment area overlooking Snellings Beach, along with the amazing North Coast scenery.

The resurgence of tourism on Kangaroo Island feels like we are finally getting back to some sort of normalcy. However, we can be quick to forget the things that people have lost and may never get back. It’s also important to acknowledge the tremendous strength it takes to get back up after such a difficult time.

That’s where we can do our part and support these places who forged through the fire and rose from the ashes.

The owners of the property even give the public a glimpse into the progress of this beloved getaway being rebuilt through their social media.
